Why our clients trust us

I chose Taylor & Francis because they offered a range of services, affordable pricing, and a simple payment and submission process. The biggest benefit was receiving a well-edited manuscript with useful recommendations. I will recommend them and use Taylor & Francis again in the future

Dr. Dmitry Gusarov

I chose Taylor & Francis Editing Services because they don't advertise constantly which, in my opinion, somehow shows credibility. I need a second opinion to check the clarity of my language so my writing represents my content properly. I picked Premium Editing Plus and did not regret it. I would opt for the same service again and would tell friends and colleagues about it.

Prince of Songkla University

I decided to use Taylor & Francis after I was referred to them. I received a quick, excellent editing service, at a reasonable cost, and have already highly recommended them to others. I am definitely going to use the service again.

Prof. S.D.S

Kibbutzim College of Education

I used Taylor & Francis’ Editing Services because the editing adheres to international standards, they have a good customer service team and quality support. They also help with teaching science writing methods. In the future, I will look at other services and I would definitely recommend them.

Azjargal Baatar

Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, School of Nursing

I was concerned my manuscript might be rejected because of language quality. Your editor went beyond my expectations. I now feel more confident my work will be accepted and would definitely recommend your services

K. D. K. W.

Department of Child Health, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University

After using your editing services, the improved quality of English led to my article being accepted. I am likely to use your service again and would recommend it to other authors

Dr. Anita Gulczyńska

University of Lodz

The main reason I used Taylor & Francis Editing Services was to get one of my articles published in a prestigious scientific publication. I received quality editing and support in restructuring the paper and am more confident that my manuscript might be accepted

  • James Hong "Editing improved my term paper" I always worry about my term papers, because English is not my first language. I started using Wordvice because the service is very easy to understand, and now I do it every time because it's very helpful. The proofreading is done perfectly, and the editors always give me many useful tips to make my writing sound more academic.
  • Melanie Garcia "Helped my work get published" Wordvice has helped me several times already to publish in reputed journals in my field, and I will definitely continue to use their manuscript editing services. The editors are really good at not only improving the language and making it more academic but also pointing out logical inconsistencies or missing details that could make a reviewer doubt the quality of our research. I highly recommend them.

  • Our aim is to serve the interests of authors and institutions, not the editorial and publishing interests of Springer Nature journals.
  • We openly and clearly declare to potential and current customers that we are part of Springer Nature, and we inform potential customers about our independence from the publishing process.
  • We aim to be publisher-neutral in our editing and advice, and especially in our journal recommendations (where applicable). We take steps during the editing process, when giving advice, and when recruiting and training editors to help us achieve this aim.
  • Nature Research Editing Service does not measure its success in terms of the publication of edited documents by Springer Nature journals.

  • We do not guarantee publication of papers or funding of grant applications. We expect journal editors and grant review panels will make these decisions entirely independently of Nature Research Editing Service and other author services providers.
  • Draft journal articles and their scientific content are not shared with professional editors who make decisions on research papers at Springer Nature journals.
  • Any comments that we make regarding the suitability of specific target journals are explicitly presented as opinion and not as a definitive prediction of the outcome of submission.

  • We do not suggest peer reviewers.
  • We do not infringe on authorship.
  • When editing documents, wherever possible, we provide our edits and comments in an easily reviewable format. We encourage authors to review our input critically, rather than accepting all of our edits and suggestions without review.

Why Choose Oxford Editing’s Academic Editing Service

Personalized academic editing services.

Your editor brings years of experience, expertise, and education, as well as a lot of brain power and heart to your manuscript. The editor’s job is to serve as your advocate, working deeply, intelligently, and with precision to ensure that your manuscript is the best that it can be and is as flawless as possible.

Experience and Expertise

We carefully vet our professional editors, most of whom are full-time academic writing and language specialists. They have worked as professional editors for decades; all are native speakers of English, and they have helped countless authors across the world prepare their work for publication or receive funding for grant proposals.

Confidentiality and Security

Our professional editors treat your material with the utmost respect and hold it in the strictest confidence. We will never release any information about our clients or their work to a third party. We are happy to sign a Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA) upon request.

How It Works

First step: submit a document for a quote.

To submit a document for a price quote and sample edit, please click here . Please send your entire document for the sample edit and cost estimate. We must have the complete document to evaluate the cost as well as the turnaround time the editor will need. In some instances, we will evaluate a portion of a document. Without the entire document, we cannot provide you with a firm price quote.

Second Step: Assessing Your Manuscript

Once we receive your manuscript, we note any editing instructions you provide, especially your final deadline; the journal name or stylistic guide, such as Chicago Manual of Style; and whether you require British or American English. We then identify an editor in or familiar with your field who can meet your deadline. The editor prepares a diagnostic sample edit of 500 words for documents containing 5,000 words or more, or 10 percent of submissions under 5,000 words. The sample edit demonstrates how your editor would edit your paper. We also use it to calculate the cost of editing your paper based on the editing level the sample edit reveals.

The diagnostic sample edit determines what editing level the manuscript requires: a light edit, which is a line edit, or copy edit (grammar, word choice, punctuation, and formatting style); a medium edit, which may contain a higher volume of line edits and some substantive edits, such as analysis of and proposed solutions for structural problems; and a heavy edit, which may have a higher volume of substantive edits and/or line edits. Please note that we cannot under-edit and would not over-edit.

What Are The Benefits of Academic Editing?

Publication journeys can differ greatly from author to author. Some can be relatively straightforward, whereas others can feel like a never-ending process of returns, revisions, and resubmissions. Academic editing can ease this process and benefit authors in a number of ways.

Here, we take a look at the features of academic editing services and how they benefit authors.

What is academic editing?

Academic editing is much more in-depth than language editing services. It’s a dedicated service seeing authors through from pre-publication to post-publication, entailing two rounds of editing and checks—a language edit followed by a specialist edit—as well as post-editing support for various aspects of the publication process.

The English editing component ensures that the language of the research is up to a publishable standard. It then undergoes a quality check by a senior language editor, who then passes it on to a PhD-holding specialist editor.

The specialist Academic Editor, who has expertise in the same field as the authors, makes content-specific and technical changes, also providing an analysis of the structure, terminology, coherence, etc. They then compile this information into a report, which the author can refer to and implement.

This edit then goes through another quality check, this time by a senior Academic Editor, and the paper and report are then returned to the author, taking a total of around 5 days.

As part of the academic editing package, authors are also entitled to free English language re-editing if the author is dissatisfied, as well as complimentary editing to cover letters and reviewer responses.

What are the benefits of academic editing?

Academic editing is the best way to prepare your research for publication. Below are detailed the major benefits of using this specialist service.

1.      Academic report

The Academic Editor’s report is a great resource for authors, providing invaluable insights that will help the author’s manuscript withstand the scrutiny of peer review. It covers all aspects of the paper, with detailed feedback on each section, as well as figures, tables, references, structure, titles, and terminology.

This enables authors to make important changes prior to submission, and thus makes it more likely to pass the peer review process. This ensures a smoother publication journey for authors, reducing the chance of it being sent back for revisions.

2.      Two rounds of editing

The combination of language and specialist editing ensures that every aspect of the paper is of publishable standard prior to submission. Poor expression and grammar in a paper can detract from its overall quality. So, by choosing academic editing, authors can be confident not only that the content of their paper meets the highest academic standards, but also that it has high readability and will be understood by the intended audience.

This is also strengthened by the quality control process, with a senior language editor and senior PhD-holding editor checking over each and every paper before being sent back to the author. This ensures that high quality standards are met for both language and content and thus high author satisfaction.

3.      Specialist knowledge

Academic Editors are carefully selected for each paper. They are PhD holders with relevant expertise in the same field as the author, and thus are well qualified to heighten its potential. They help to ensure that the paper is logical and consistent, refining its structure and coherence.

This helps to ensure that the paper will stand out in its field. Academic Editors understand the nuances of their subject areas and thus can make sure that research is communicated clearly, professionally, and accurately.

4.      Post-editing support

Another major benefit of academic editing is the support received after the paper has been edited and returned to authors. Professional support is offered for several aspects of the publishing process—for example, cover letters and reviewer responses. Free English language re-editing is also offered if the author requests it.

Choosing editing services

There are several considerations when it comes to choosing the right editing service for your research. If you want a comprehensive service that best prepares your paper for peer review and publication, academic editing is the most appropriate option.

Through the combination of language and specialist editing, the structure, coherence, and readability of the paper are all significantly improved, allowing authors to be confident in their work upon submission.

How to publish your first article in a scientific journal: A step-by-step guide

As an early career researcher – whether you are a doctoral student, postdoctoral researcher or even just starting out as a recent faculty, you are probably thinking of submitting a journal paper soon. If you have never done it before, then the first question that comes to mind is, where do I begin?

So, if you are wondering how to publish your research paper, we have you covered with tips and resources. Read on...

5 key steps for getting your article ready for publishing:

1. Get organized:

Start cataloging your references regularly so that you have them handy when you begin to write. Learn a good reference management tool that can be used as an article repository as well has help with formatting. Staying organized will help you throughout your journey as you prepare your article for publishing in a journal.

2. Identify candidate journals:

Have a discussion with your laboratory supervisor and select a few articles as examples from each journal that you are targeting. This will give you a better idea of how you need to prepare and present your work. Using a journal finder can be very helpful in deciding which journal is the best match for your research.

research paper editing companies

3. Begin with the results section:

When I was doing my doctoral research, my supervisor would always emphasize that the results section of the paper is the foundation upon which the entire paper stands. Once that is written, the rest can follow. Start putting together your figures and tables first along with a description of the results. Remember, the results do not need to have references or any interpretation of the data. This is where you report your findings in the best possible way – using graphs, tables, diagrams, figures, photographs – while adhering to the guidelines of the journal you have selected for publishing your paper.

4. Get inputs from the team:

When you are preparing an article for publishing, it is important to get inputs from your team. Make sure you set up regular review sessions to finalize the article for submission to a journal. Once all authors agree about the results, you will write the methods, introduction and discussion sections. The methods section is usually the easiest if you have done the experiments yourself! Be sure to reference any methods you have used that were described in other papers. Even if it is a method that has been used and published by your team, it must be cited.

5. Stay original:

As you write the literature review/introduction section as well as the discussion sections, it may be tempting to lift paragraphs from other articles. However, journals will pick up plagiarized text and AI-generated text. So, this step is very important to follow! Be sure to write in your own words anything that you read in another paper. You must cite other researchers’ work in the reference section if you refer to it in your paper. If you do take a phrase directly from another source, be sure to put it in quotes and provide the correct citation. Publishing in a scientific journal requires even more vigilance when it comes to your figures, as images may be checked by AI-assisted tools to ensure that they are original. If you want to submit to a scientific journal, be sure to double-check your data and figures before submitting to the journal.

TemperatureOptimum yield can be achieved at a temperature range of 22 and 32 °C; beyond this range, at temperatures exceeding 42 °C, yields begin to decline. Extreme temperatures, both high and low, have a significant impact on the formation of starch in tubers, while pod development does not exhibit any signs of endothelial formation.[ , , , , ]
LightThe threshold for the red/far red ratio is greater than 0.5. When this ratio is met, it leads to the elongation of stem-like structures, an upward orientation of leaves (hyponasty), reduced branching or tillering, and earlier flowering. However, it also diminishes the root anchorage capacity, making the crops more susceptible to lodging.[ , ]
WaterCompetition among plants for limited shallow-water resources increases their susceptibility to drought stress. The extent of this competition is influenced by the relative difference in soil water content due to soil water absorption.[ , ]
Metal toxicityMostly in the form of soluble aluminum, such as [Al(H O) ] , which, at a millimolar concentration can stimulate the division of root cells in cereal and legume crops. Aluminum also triggers an increased accumulation of reactive oxygen species and higher fatty acid peroxidation, resulting in an alteration in plasma membrane integrity.[ , ]
Pests and diseasesCertain insects and pathogens can be shared among related plant species. For instance, Bruchid, which are pantropical seed pests of grain legumes, commonly feed on the seeds of tree legumes as well. Additionally, various vertebrata pests, fungi, virus, nematodes, and phytoplasmas have been identified as having relationships with both crop and tree species.[ , , ]

English proofreading service

What does a proofreader do?

The proofreading process is your last chance to catch any errors in your writing before you submit it. A proofreader makes sure your spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors are reviewed and fixed. This can be done automatically by an AI-powered tool like the one at the top of this page or by a real human. Both options have their advantages, so pick the one that suits you most.

word use

Fix mistakes that slip under your radar

✔ Fix problems with commonly confused words, like affect vs. effect, which vs. that and who vs. that.

✔ Catch words that sound similar but aren’t, like their vs. they’re, your vs. you’re.

✔ Check your punctuation to avoid errors with dashes and hyphens, commas, apostrophes, and more.

✔ Avoid sentence fragments, subject-verb agreement errors, and problems with parallelism.

How does the proofreader work?

The online proofreader.

It’s really straightforward. Just paste the text into the tool. All your errors will now be underlined in red. You can hover over these mistakes to see how they can be addressed. If you agree, just click on the button “Fix all errors,” and your mistakes will be fixed instantly!

Frequently asked questions

Our support team is here to help you daily via chat, WhatsApp, email, or phone between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. CET.

Yes! Our personal statement editors can help you reduce your word count by up to 25%. You can choose to receive this feedback through direct edits or suggestions in comments – just select your choice when you upload your personal statement.

Our APA experts default to APA 7 for editing and formatting. For the Citation Editing Service you are able to choose between APA 6 and 7.

It is not necessary to reserve a time slot for your edit. As soon as your document is ready to be proofread, you can upload it at any time via our website . Based on your chosen deadline, our editor(s) will then proofread your document within 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days.

If you are unsure about the availability of our services or are planning to upload a very large document (>13,000 words) with a 24 hour deadline, we recommend that you contact us beforehand via chat or email .

Scribbr is following the guidelines announced by the WHO (World Health Organization). As an online platform, all our services remain available, and we will continue to help students as usual.

Can I still place an order? Will my order be completed within the deadline? Yes, you can still place orders and orders will be delivered within the agreed upon deadline. Scribbr is an online platform – our proofreading & editing services are provided by editors working remotely from all over the world. This means Scribbr can guarantee that we will process your order with the same diligence and professionalism as always. The same holds true for our Plagiarism Checker .

Can I still contact customer support? Yes. Our support team is available from 09.00 to 23.00 CET and happy to answer any questions you might have!

Yes, if your document is longer than 20,000 words, you will get a sample of approximately 2,000 words. This sample edit gives you a first impression of the editor’s editing style and a chance to ask questions and give feedback.

How does the sample edit work?

You will receive the sample edit within 12 hours after placing your order. You then have 24 hours to let us know if you’re happy with the sample or if there’s something you would like the editor to do differently.

Read more about how the sample edit works

When you upload a large document (20,000+ words), we will ask your editor to send a sample edit of approximately 2,000 words as soon as possible. This sample edit gives you a first impression of your editor’s editing style and what you can expect from the service. You will receive it within 12 hours after uploading your order.

Why do we provide you with a sample edit?

We always aim to make you 100% happy, and Proofreading & Editing is a complex service. We want to make sure that our editing style meets your expectations before the editor improves your entire document.

Our editors are trained to follow Scribbr’s academic style . However, your preferences might deviate from our conventions. The sample edit gives you the chance to provide feedback – you can let us know if you’re happy with the sample or if there’s something you would like the editor to do differently.

Once your editor has completed your sample edit, you will receive a notification via email. You have 24 hours to reply to this email and provide us with feedback. If we receive your feedback in time, your editor will go the extra mile and adjust the edit according to your input.

What sort of feedback can you give?

Give us feedback that will help your editor meet your requirements. For example:

  • “I am completely happy. The editor can continue editing like this.”
  • “I forgot to mention that my school has the following rules for gendered pronouns.”
  • “The editor changed the spelling of a technical term, but my professor spells it differently. Please keep the original spelling of this term.”

The  Structure  and Clarity Check can only be purchased in conjunction with Proofreading & Editing . Providing feedback on structure and clarity requires extensive knowledge of the text, which the editor acquires while proofreading and editing your text.

However, our Paper Formatting Service,   Citation Editing Service and Plagiarism Checker can be purchased separately.

Yes, Scribbr will proofread the summary in another language as well.

Who will proofread my summary?

If your document contains a summary in a different language, we will send this part to another editor who is a native speaker of that language. The editor will check your summary, applying our standard Proofreading & Editing service.

If you ordered any additional services, such as the Structure Check or Clarity Check, the editor will not apply them to your summary. This is because the summary is a translation of your abstract – you already receive Structure and Clarity feedback on the text in the original language. Therefore, when proofreading your summary, the editor will focus on making sure your language and style is correct.

How does it work?

We will create a new assignment within your order and send you a confirmation email. This also means that you will receive a separate email/SMS notification from us when the editor has finished proofreading your summary. Once your summary is proofread, you can download it via your Scribbr account and read the editor’s feedback.

Yes, we can provide a certificate of proofreading.

As soon as the editor delivers the edit, you can email us at [email protected] to request a certificate.

Please indicate the following in your email:

  • Your order number
  • Your full name
  • The title of your work

We will create a PDF certificate and email it to you as soon as possible.

Scribbr specializes in editing study-related documents . We proofread:

  • PhD dissertations
  • Research proposals
  • Personal statements
  • Admission essays
  • Motivation letters
  • Reflection papers
  • Journal articles
  • Capstone projects

Yes, when you accept all changes and delete all comments your document is ready to be handed in.

How to accept all changes:

  • Word for Mac 2011

How to remove all comments:

When you’ve finished this, others will no longer be able to see the changes made by the editor.

  • Read your last version one last time to make sure everything is the way you want it.
  • Save your document as a .pdf file to come across more professional and to ensure the format of your document doesn’t change.

Yes, in the order process you can indicate your preference for American, British, or Australian English .

If you don’t choose one, your editor will follow the style of English you currently use. If your editor has any questions about this, we will contact you.

Yes, you can upload your thesis in sections.

We try our best to ensure that the same editor checks all the different sections of your thesis. When you upload a new file, our system recognizes you as a returning customer, and we immediately contact the editor who helped you before.

However, we cannot guarantee that the same editor will be available. Your chances are higher if

  • You send us your text as soon as possible and
  • You can be flexible about the deadline.

Please note that the shorter your deadline is, the bigger the risk that your previous editor is not available.

If your previous editor isn’t available, then we will inform you immediately and look for another qualified editor. Fear not! Every Scribbr editor follows the  Scribbr Improvement Model  and will deliver high-quality work.

However, every editor has a slightly different editing style, so you may notice small inconsistencies in editing choices. As with every proofreading order, be sure to carefully review your editor’s changes and suggestions as you finalize your text to ensure that everything is as you want it.

The fastest turnaround time is 12 hours.

You can upload your document at any time and choose between four deadlines:

At Scribbr, we promise to make every customer 100% happy with the service we offer. Our philosophy: Your complaint is always justified – no denial, no doubts.

Our customer support team is here to find the solution that helps you the most, whether that’s a free new edit or a refund for the service.

Every Scribbr order comes with our award-winning Proofreading & Editing service , which combines two important stages of the revision process.

For a more comprehensive edit, you can add a Structure Check or Clarity Check to your order. With these building blocks, you can customize the kind of feedback you receive.

You might be familiar with a different set of editing terms. To help you understand what you can expect at Scribbr, we created this table:

Types of editing Available at Scribbr?

This kind of editing involves heavy rewriting and restructuring. Our editors cannot help with this.

Scribbr not only specializes in proofreading and editing texts in English , but also in several other languages . This way, we help out students from all over the world.

As a global academic writing proofreading service, we work with professional editors  – all native speakers – who edit in the following languages :

This way, you can also have your academic writing proofread and edited in your second language!

Please note that we do not offer Finnish proofreading, but students can still upload English papers on scribbr.fi .

Yes, regardless of the deadline you choose, our editors can proofread your document during weekends and holidays.

Example: If you select the 12-hour service on Saturday, you will receive your edited document back within 12 hours on Sunday.

The footnotes are not automatically included in the word count.

If you want the language errors in your footnotes to be corrected by the editor, you can indicate this in step 3 of the upload process . The words in the footnotes are then automatically added to the total word count.

Need help with your references?

  • If you use the APA reference style, you can use our free APA Citation Generator or the articles about APA in our Knowledge Base.
  • If you’d like us to check your references for consistency, you can use our Citation Editing Service .

To keep our prices competitive, we do not offer a free trial edit. However, if your document is longer than 30,000 words, we are happy to provide you with a sample edit of 2,000 words to ensure you are satisfied with the editor’s editing style.

Rest assured, our customers are very satisfied with our proofreading services. We’re proud that they have rated us with an excellent 4.6 on Trustpilot. In the unlikely event that you have a less positive experience, we’ll solve that with our 100% happiness guarantee !

After your thesis has been edited , you will receive an email with a link to download the edited document.

The editor has made changes to your document using ‘ Track Changes ’ in Word.  This means that you only have to accept or ignore the changes that are made in the text one by one.

It is also possible to accept all changes at once. However, we strongly advise you not to do so for the following reasons:

  • You can learn much by looking at what mistakes you have made.
  • The editors do not only change the text, they also place comments when sentences or sometimes even entire paragraphs are unclear. We therefore advise you to read through these comments and take into account your editor’s tips and suggestions.
  • Because of the many changes, sometimes there may be double spaces, double periods, or other minor mistakes in a sentence. Checking the changes one by one, you can easily detect these minor errors.

We have written a manual in which we explain step by step how ‘Track Changes’ works.

Check out an example

Our editors are very experienced and will do their utmost to correct all errors in your thesis .

However, with our current rates, an editor can only check your thesis once. This may cause an editor to overlook an error. We can therefore not guarantee that your thesis is 100% error free after you have had your thesis edited.

The editor uses ‘Track Changes’ in Word when editing your thesis.

Don’t know how this works? Then read the following guide  in which we explain step by step how ‘Track Changes’ works.

No, we do not provide you with a clean copy. You will always receive a file edited with tracked changes .

We do this for two main reasons:

  • In most papers, there are sentences that the editor cannot edit without additional information from the author. In these cases, your editor will provide guidance but leave you to implement the feedback. If we were to simply accept the changes for you, then these issues would be left unaddressed.
  • We believe students should be accountable for their work. Our editors can correct language errors and coach you to be a better writer. However, the end product belongs to you and should reflect your ideas and decisions.

All Scribbr editors are language experts with interests in different subject areas.

You can indicate your field of study when you upload your document . We’ll make sure that the editor who proofreads your work is familiar with your discipline and its specialist vocabulary.

These are the fields of study you can choose from, and examples of the main subjects in each field:

  • Business and Management: Business Administration, Hotel Management, Accountancy, Marketing
  • Economics: Business Economics, Econometrics, Finance
  • IT and Engineering: ICT, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering
  • Natural and Life Sciences: Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry
  • Geography, Agriculture and Environment: Ecology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning
  • Health and Medical Sciences: Medicine, Obstetrics, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Dentistry
  • Arts and Humanities: Philosophy, History, Literature, Cultural Studies, Theology
  • Law and Policy: Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Human Rights
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences: Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Communication Sciences

Editors don’t have to be experts in the content of your paper, but they do know how to present it in the best way possible! Our goal is to improve your writing and give you feedback on the readability, structure, logic, and clarity of your text. We know from experience that the most effective editors are specialists in language and academic writing.

We’ve carefully selected and trained all of our editors to proofread theses and other academic documents. Once they’re qualified, we continue to carefully monitor their work to make sure we always deliver the highest quality .
