(Editor's note: Robin Madell is a contributing writer at FlexJobs and Remote.co.)

Launched in 2007, FlexJobs was created specifically to help professionals find remote and flexible jobs. The site's founder, Sara Sutton, explains she was inspired to start FlexJobs because she had been looking for a remote opportunity with a flexible schedule while pregnant and was discouraged by how many bogus job sites there were in this niche. FlexJobs' staff researches what they identify as the best job listings for professional positions in more than 50 career fields worldwide. Opportunities are both part-time and full-time, from entry-level to executive-level. They provide client support for their members and a money-back guarantee. Pricing starts at $9.95 for a one-week trial.

Remote.co , a FlexJobs partner also founded by Sutton, describes itself as a site for "all things remote work." It offers sections for employers to post remote jobs and for job seekers to find those opportunities. The site also includes a remote work blog and common work-from-home questions answered by 145 remote companies and virtual teams.

One of the major job search sites for traditional work, Indeed also has a special section for remote jobs. The site currently lists more than 150,000 remote jobs that are searchable by job type, salary estimate , location, company and experience level. Indeed also lets users upload resumes so that employers can find them.

We Work Remotely

According to the We Work Remotely site, its community has over 4.5 million monthly visitors. The site lists remote jobs in categories including programming, design, copywriting and sales and marketing; it also designates between full-time and contract positions. We Work Remotely also offers a number of resources for remote job seekers including a remote job description template, remote work trends and the top 100 remote companies.

ZipRecruiter

While ZipRecruiter is a larger job board that publishes opportunities about traditional jobs as well, it contains a section specifically for remote positions. As of mid-January, its remote jobs database contained over 450,000 remote jobs. Some of the most popular types of remote jobs listed on the site are administrative, part-time and contract work. Some of the most popular remote job titles found on the site are teacher, graphic designer and bookkeeper.

A free site that's targeted solely toward remote jobs, Jobspresso has over 1,000 openings listed, featuring tech jobs such as developer, designer, UX and DevOps, as well as writing, editing and product management roles. According to the site, Jobspresso curates, reviews and adds onto its listings on a daily basis. The site's staff spends time "to make sure every job is legitimate and open by reviewing the employer's website, social media accounts and general reputation, so you see only the highest quality jobs," according to the Jobspresso website.

Working Nomads

Working Nomads distinguishes itself from other sites by offering a remote job board that spans positions worldwide. It targets job seekers who need "only a computer, Wi-Fi, and a cloud" to do their work, and offers not only fully remote positions, but also partly remote jobs where you might need to spend some time on-site for training or team-building purposes.

Remote Work Hub

Offering only full-time remote jobs, Remote Work Hub 's homepage claims that the site provides its users with 10 times more jobs and better filters than the No. 1 remote job board. The site was started by Cam Woodsum, who says he believes working online from anywhere you want "is the fastest shortcut to freedom and that freedom is the fastest shortcut to happiness and living a great life." In addition to being able to browse categories to find certain types of jobs on Remote Work Hub, you can also set up job alerts, read blog posts and learn about being a digital nomad.

Listing remote jobs in software development, customer support, marketing, design and other industries, the Remote OK site states that its job board reaches more than 2 million remote workers. The site also includes remote work statistics, including a ranking of the highest and lowest paying remote jobs and companies in 2023.

This is a free, standard job board with a category search and a community option to receive newsletters and webinars via email on topics relevant to remote job searchers and workers. It allows you to search jobs by skill and location or by company. Though the Remotive site places an emphasis on remote tech opportunities, it posts other types of remote jobs as well.

Working online is becoming increasingly popular thanks to the flexibility, diversity, and income-earning potential that online jobs provide.

Plus, the start-up costs are minimal, and there are a variety of gigs depending on your interest and skill set. In fact, when I started my online business a few years ago, it cost me almost nothing, and I had little experience.

But through trial and error and a lot of hard work, I’ve been able to make a full-time income from my online jobs.

If you’re interested in starting your own online gig, there are plenty of opportunities available.

28 Legitimate Online Jobs

With the number of online job options, it’s hard to know which ones are legitimate and which ones aren’t worth your time. This list covers some of the most popular and potentially lucrative choices.

Featured Online Jobs

Most of the jobs in this entire list are suitable for anyone, but I’ve divided them into categories for students, moms, kids, and teachers for easy sorting. This first list is best for anyone simply because there’s such a wide variety of successful people working these online jobs, and they don’t require any special degrees or certifications.

1. Product tester

Pay: $5 to $15 per hour

Product testing is a fun online job that allows you to make money working with products that you already want or need. As a paid product tester, you can test and review both physical and digital products.

Product testing opportunities periodically arise on Swagbucks Discover ; checking in on both platforms from time to time will maximize the odds you’re eligible for an offer. Once you receive and test a product, you’ll follow the instructions and complete a survey [or similar task] to provide your insights and feedback.

You’ll be paid in cash, gift cards, or get to keep the product you’ve tested. This isn’t a full-time online job opportunity, but it can make a good side hustle.

Related: Where to Find Product Testing Jobs

2. Online seller

Pay: $40 to $60 on average per box of items

You can sell almost anything online. Furniture, unused makeup, old cell phones, and other tech are all viable options.

If you have children, you can easily sell their gently used shoes, clothes, toys, and gadgets once they’ve outgrown them. If you enjoy this type of online job, you can start scouting local yard sales, flea markets, and Facebook selling groups for items to resell.

When you find a used item at a steep discount, you can sell it on a site like Decluttr to flip for a profit. The more often you do this, the more money you can earn.

Pay: $1 to $2,000+ per month

Blogging is an online job where you can make money on a part-time schedule. If you enjoy writing and helping others, and you know how to be persistent even if you’re not making money, blogging might be a good fit for you. It usually takes at least 6 to 18 months to start making money from a blog .

The fun thing about blogging as an online job is that you can choose a topic you’re truly passionate about, and the opportunities from blogging are virtually limitless.

The four main ways to make money from blogging include:

  • Advertising – You get paid for putting ads on your blog.
  • Affiliate Marketing – This is where you get paid a commission for any products that you sell via your blog.
  • Digital Products – You can sell your own eBooks, courses, etc.
  • Services – If you like to work one on one with people, a blog can be a great way to generate leads for coaching, consulting, etc.

Recommendation: HostGator is one of the most affordable options to get a money-making blog up and running. It makes it simple and easy to get started (and have everything you need all in one place), which is why it’s a great option for new bloggers.

4. Facebook ads manager

Pay: $1,000 to $2,000+ per month

Many local business owners know they need to advertise online, but they don’t know how or don’t have enough employees to work on it. If you have Facebook and are familiar with its advertising platform, or if you’re willing to put in the time to learn, you can start contacting local businesses to offer Facebook ad services .

That’s what Bobby Hoyt did. An avid digital marketer and blogger, he started offering Facebook ad management services to local businesses in his area and eventually turned that operation into a sizable income for himself. He launched his own FB Side Hustle Course that teaches others how to do the same. You can do this as a side hustle or turn it into a full-time job.

5. Transcriber

Pay: $10 to $36 per hour

Transcription services are in high demand and have a low barrier to entry. Even if you have no experience transcribing, you can still find work.

There are many large companies that hire transcribers , but the pay is generally low. For instance, Scribie.com pays $5 to $25 per audio hour and TranscribeMe.com pays $15 per audio hour.

As you gain experience, you can look for sites that pay more. These companies are a bit harder to get accepted into but are worth the wait:

  • Rev.com ($24 to $39/audio hour)
  • GoTranscript.com ($36/audio hour)
  • Speechpad.com ($24/audio hour)

You can take a free mini-course on transcription to see if this online job is right for you.

6. Dropshipper

Pay: $25 to $500+ per item sold

With dropshipping, you set up a storefront on a platform like Shopify , list your products, and then have the orders shipped directly to a customer from the supplier.

This is an amazing option for anyone looking for an online job because it allows you to work in sales without touching the physical product during a transaction and earn a good income at the same time.

You can sell anything from T-shirts to event tickets and consulting services, so this is an incredibly flexible online job.

Though the profit margin of dropshipping isn’t as high as when stocking and shipping your own physical products, the benefits of a completely hands-off method make it worthwhile.

7. Online personal trainer

Pay: $30 to $50 a session

If you love working out and teaching others, becoming an online personal trainer can be a fun side hustle. Plus, you can keep these clients even after you graduate.

You can offer virtual sessions via Zoom or FaceTime and create a YouTube channel with free workouts that show off your work to potential clients. Some trainers will also create meal plans for their customers.

8. Online beauty advisor

Pay: Varies; depends on the referral program

If you’re constantly getting compliments on your makeup or love talking about skincare products, then consider making money with this skill as an online beauty advisor. You’ll get paid when someone purchases the beauty products you recommend.

Here’s how it works. Let’s say you have a YouTube channel or social media account where you recommend certain products. You use your specific referral or affiliate code when linking to these products. When someone buys that product using your link, you get a percentage of how much they spent.

You can also take on virtual clients for one-on-one consulting .

9. Freelance writer

Pay: $50 to $500+ per article

If you love writing and can find clients that need content, then becoming a freelance writer may be a good online job for you.

It’s ok to start on a platform like Fiverr or FreelanceWriting.com, but you won’t find high-paying freelance writing jobs on these sites. To earn a decent income, you’ll need to work directly with websites, companies, or online magazines.

You can also search for clients by connecting with blog owners, local businesses, and local newspapers who might need writers. Another way to find jobs is to join writing Facebook groups. The competition can be fierce, but you’ll do well if you’re persistent and want to improve.

Once you’ve established a solid portfolio, client roster, and testimonials, you can raise your prices.

10. Proofreader

Pay: $10 to $45 per hour

There are many online jobs for college students that allow you to make money proofreading , but you shouldn’t overlook the opportunities on campus.

Consider seeking out fellow students who could use a proofreader before turning in their next paper.

Proofreading is less in-depth than editing. Rather than making extensive corrections and suggestions, you work as a second set of eyes, looking for typos, spelling errors, and other minor issues to clean up their papers before they’re submitted for grading.

Caitlin Pyle, the creator of Proofread Anywhere, offers a free 76-minute webinar explaining what it takes to make money proofreading.

11. Textbook seller

Pay: 15% to 50% per book sold

Students are perfect candidates for book scouting or selling textbooks online. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of students on college campuses who have no interest in reselling their own textbooks.

You can take advantage of their lack of time or motivation and offer to sell those books for your friends on a site like BookScouter . Negotiate a selling price, along with the fee you get per book, and do the work for them. As time allows, you can even scout online book prices and buy/sell during the prime textbook season (before the start of each new semester).

12. Social media manager

Pay: $15 to $40 per hour

If you’re an avid social media user, you can put your skills and time to good use by starting an online job as a social media manager .

Managing a business’s social media is similar to managing your own Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. In order to be visible and well-known on social media, you have to be not just active, but interactive. When someone posts a comment or private messages you, you need to reply quickly.

Businesses often fail at social media because they don’t have someone dedicated to staying active on various social media platforms. They often don’t have staff available to respond to comments, create new and engaging posts, or monitor conversations within their communities.

Local businesses offer prime opportunities for finding an online job as a social media manager. You can send an email, but it may be good to call or visit local businesses or introduce yourself through their social media pages as a college student looking to help.

Some businesses won’t be interested, while others may jump on the opportunity to get more exposure online.

13. Consignor

Pay: 40% to 60% per item sold

Most people have stuff that they no longer need, but rarely take the time to sell it to make extra cash. Instead, they donate or trash it.

When you start an online consignment business , you work as a middleman between people looking to sell their stuff and customers wanting to buy it. You can get started by offering to consign items for other students and sell them online for cash. There’s little inventory involved, and you only make money when you make a sale.

Install selling apps like thredUP or eBay on your smartphone, and keep a good record of consignees and their contact information. If something doesn’t sell, simply return it to them or have them sign a waiver to donate the item to a local charity once the listing has expired. You should also have in writing your commission if the item does sell.

Thanks to smartphones and selling apps , it’s much easier to consign for friends and family than it was even a few years ago.

14. Data entry specialist

Pay: $10 to $17 per hour

Data entry jobs are legit options for college students, but you should think carefully before applying. They’re easy, but they tend to pay less and require more time than other options.

The best thing about data entry jobs is that the work is flexible and can be done in your spare time. You can take on as much or as little work as needed depending on your schedule.

If you’re interested in finding a data entry job, start with a platform like Clickworker or DionData Solutions.

Online jobs for moms

Online Jobs for Moms

If you’re looking for online jobs that are perfect for moms, consider some of these options. Keep in mind that any of the work-from-home jobs can be tweaked to work for you as well.

15. Subscription box creator

Pay: Depends on the box and your profit margin

If you have a great idea for a subscription box, you can turn it into reality with CrateJoy. This service lets you build your subscription box service without actually keeping the inventory yourself. You design, market, and promote the boxes without having to turn your garage into a subscription box warehouse.

This can be a fun way to explore having your own online business without needing an influx of capital and a lot of space.

16. Virtual assistant

Pay: $19 to $25 per hour

Becoming a virtual assistant to an already established online business is one of the best online jobs to try, and you can start almost immediately.

Virtual assistants often handle things like scheduling, customer support, administrative assistance, email marketing, social media posting, blog management, and much more.

You can offer whatever services you feel comfortable doing, and you can add more to your menu of services as you gain experience. Or, if you prefer, you can specialize in just one or two areas.

Reach out to small business owners and online entrepreneurs, or connect with other VAs in Facebook groups. They might have leads for your first few clients or tips on how to maximize your earnings.

Once you’ve built your client list, you may find that you’ve maxed out your schedule while making a great hourly wage.

17. Graphic designer

Pay: $25 to $50 per hour

You don’t need an art degree to become a graphic designer . There are online jobs that require graphic design skills for projects like creating printable sheets, flyers, announcements, ads, or Pinterest images.

If you have an eye for design and know how to use tools like Canva or PicMonkey, there’s an online job waiting for you. Creating beautiful Pinterest and other social media images is in high demand among bloggers and website owners and can help almost any business attract fresh traffic to its website.

18. Niche website creator

Pay: $100 to $10,000+ per site

If you’re well-versed in search engine optimization (SEO) and understand how to get a site ranked on the first page of Google, you could make money creating niche websites. From hiking and mountain climbing to babyrearing, there’s no limit when choosing a topic.

A niche website isn’t like a typical blog where you have to add fresh content weekly. Instead, you set up a few landing pages that sell affiliate products in a single niche. There’s no guarantee that a certain niche will be profitable, but you can start brainstorming topics that you think are being underserved.

After you’ve built the site and made it profitable, you can keep it to earn passive income or sell the site on a marketplace like Flippa.com .

Setting up a niche site is similar to establishing a regular blog. If you know how to do that, you can get started creating your niche site right away.

19. Website designer

Pay: $20 to $100 per hour

It’s possible to learn how to design blogs and e-commerce websites without any formal training thanks to drag-and-drop builders that easily integrate with platforms like Shopify. If you’re technically inclined and can spot the differences between a good-looking website and a bad one, you might be able to start designing and building websites for others.

Designing websites doesn’t mean you need to reinvent the internet or create complex-looking websites. It means you need to know what looks good, is user-friendly, and meets your clients’ needs.

Although it’s a simple process, many people are overwhelmed by the thought of creating their own website, and it’s a gap you can fill while earning a good income.

20. Social media influencer

If you like sharing your favorite deals, books, clothes, and other products on social media and have built a loyal following, you can find work as a social media influencer. With this job, companies will pay you to promote their products to your audience, and you’ll earn a percentage of the sales they make from your affiliate or referral links.

It doesn’t take much to become a social media influencer if you choose a niche that’s profitable and one you’re passionate about it. You’ll need to post on your social media channels consistently and engage with your followers to grow your influence and your income.

There are companies like the Amazon Influencer Program and ShopStyle.com that allow you to post paid links on your profile.

21. Amazon seller

Pay: $15 to $100+ per hour

Everyone shops on Amazon these days, which is why you can make a good income through Amazon as well.

The concept of Amazon arbitrage is simple, but the process can be tedious. You find discounted physical products at your local stores and sell them at a profit on Amazon.

Though it sounds easy, your profits can quickly decrease due to Amazon’s sellers’ fees, shipping expenses, and time spent. However, if you already spend time thrift store shopping or bargain hunting, then this online job might be for you.

22. Budgeter / bookkeeper

Pay: $20 to $60 per hour

Budgeting and bookkeeping are similar, though budgeting relates more to individuals and bookkeeping to businesses.

If you’ve successfully created, managed, and stuck to a budget in your own life and are willing to share your methods with other families, consider marketing your budgeting consulting services on Fiverr, social media, or your own website.

If you like organizing finances for businesses, consider working as a bookkeeper.

As a bookkeeper, you’ll work with businesses on keeping their financial matters in order. You may record income and expenses, prepare financial reports, create and send invoices, and collect payments from clients. You can do this either by hand or using bookkeeping software. It’s flexible enough that you can work from home for local or online businesses.

Market your services by joining Facebook groups or visiting local businesses in person. Facebook ads would be a great way to advertise what you offer as well, and it adds another skill to your resume.

24. Course creator

Pay: 30% to 70% of the purchase price

While you don’t have to be a teacher to create an online course , it’s a great option for teachers to earn extra income. You can create a course in any topic you know well; it doesn’t have to be in a subject you teach at your day job. If you want to create a course teaching students how to knit a sweater or plant a garden, you can.

“How-to” courses are the simplest way to start because they walk students through a series of steps in an easy-to-follow way. You can create short, easy-to-edit videos for each step and put them together in one complete package to sell on a platform like Outschool .

Unlike other platforms like Udemy or Teachable, Outschool is geared toward K-12 learners and you can create individual lessons, courses, and even summer camps for students. You can choose how many students you teach at once, the price of your lessons, and the class schedule. Its flexibility makes it a great platform for anyone 18 years of age or older who can pass a background check and who enjoys teaching kids.

After publishing your course, take the time to create a marketing strategy and connect with affiliate partners to sell your course and earn residual income.

25. Pick up online gigs for teachers

27. YouTube channel creator

Pay: $0 to $2,000 per month

Kids making videos on YouTube is a huge industry right now. Ryan, the star of Ryan’s World, made $22 million in revenue in one year . With the help of his mom and dad, his channel became popular with kids everywhere.

View this post on Instagram                     The internet has made alternate income (side hustle) opportunities so accessible. ⁣ ⁣ There are so many options out there for making extra money nowadays and YouTube is becoming one of the most popular. 📺⁣ ⁣ 𝗣.𝗦. DollarSprout even has a YouTube channel! You should check it out if you haven’t already. 😉 A post shared by DollarSprout Personal Finance (@dollarsprout) on Nov 5, 2019 at 3:26pm PST

Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as recording a video, uploading it to YouTube, and watching the money roll in. YouTube made some changes to its minimum subscriber and view requirements before a channel can start making money. Once those minimums are met, then you can place ads on the videos to create an income stream. That’s why promoting your YouTube channel on other platforms is also important.

If your kids are driven and ready to be in front of a camera, then they might love the idea of making a profitable YouTube channel . You most likely won’t earn the same amount of money as Ryan’s World, but you can earn something.

28. Amazon eBook publisher

Pay: Up to 70% of each copy sold

Publishing a book on Amazon Kindle is easy and simple, but it’s not a guaranteed way to make a lot of money. The books need to be well-written, edited, have a catchy cover, and have a clear marketing strategy. However, if you have a good idea, eBooks provide a way for your aspiring writer or illustrator to start earning some income.

If your teen has a talent for writing stories or drawing cartoons or picture books, you can help them start creating and uploading books to sell . This may be a fun way for them to earn money with their creativity.

Find Something You Like and Run With It

If you’re interested in earning money online , there are plenty of options. To find the right one, brainstorm and think about your hobbies, skills, and talents and pick one that works with those. If you can’t find an existing job, you can even create one.

The best part about online jobs is that you can make good money from home by doing more than one gig or job at a time. If you want to have a blog and tutor, or you want to have an Etsy store and a YouTube channel and can fit it all into your schedule, you can. The more you can do to maximize your income to achieve your financial goals, the better you’ll be in the long run.

12 Genuine Work From Home Jobs That Hire Nationwide

By Angie Nelson

Last Updated July 14, 2022 . Disclosure: We may receive compensation if you sign up for or purchase products linked below. Details on offers may change, and you should confirm them with the company prior to taking action.

What a bummer!

For whatever reason, not all companies will hire from anywhere. Some want people who are close enough to travel to do some in-person training. Others will only hire in the states where they operate or where they have “hubs.” And some states just plain and simple make it more difficult to hire remote contractors with their regulations, taxes, and laws.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a list of places that hire at-home workers who can truly work from anywhere?

Good news! You asked, and I answered! Today’s post is all about work-at-home jobs that you can land from anywhere in the U.S. — and some will even hire you from anywhere in the world. The great news is that you have a TON of options to find a work-from-anywhere job. Let’s jump right in!

1.  24/7 Virtual Assistants

You know I love virtual assisting . It’s how I got started with working from home, and it can open all kinds of doors for you. As a VA, you can strike out on your own… but you can also join up with 24/7 Virtual Assistant to get a steady stream of VA work doing anything from very basic administrative support to bookkeeping, email marketing, and even HR work.

2.  Aim 4 A Tutoring

A teaching certificate and bachelor’s degree is required to work with Aim-4-A, but if you’ve got these in the bag then tutoring is a great job you can get from anywhere. There are other tutoring companies that may be available to you, too.

3.  American Express

Whether you want to work with one of the best customer service teams in the U.S. or you want to flex your travel agent muscles, American Express has a great opportunity for you. This job comes with benefits, which many work-at-home jobs don’t offer. They aren’t hiring in every region at all times, but if you keep an eye on this one, there may be an opening for you soon!

4.  Apple

Apple is another great company that hires from all over the U.S. You can work via phone or chat, depending on what role you’re in, and you’ll also be eligible for benefits even as a part-time employee.

5.  Arise

The Arise Work from Home isn’t the right work-at-home arrangement for everyone, but is it right for you? If you’re ready to commit and really turn it into a career, it’s absolutely worth a second look.

6.  Dell

Most of the big computer technology companies offer work-at-home positions, and Dell is no exception. In fact, it’s been recognized as a great job for at-home moms because of how many remote jobs they have and the fact that many roles come with full benefits. And not all jobs are tech-related, either.

Many specific jobs with Dell do say that they hire by region, but look for anything with the word “remote” in the description to find jobs that you can do anywhere.

7.  Leapforce

Leapforce is a really interesting work-at-home job for people who are always curious about what’s going on in the world around them. It’s a search engine evaluation position, and you can make some real money with it.

8.  Rev

Rev is a great place to work when you truly need to do it on your own schedule. With Rev, you can do transcription, translation, and video captioning work. It’s one of those great opportunities that truly is what you make of it — and you control your hours 100%!

9.  U-Haul

The ubiquitous orange “moving and storage” brand is also well known for its great work-at-home program. If you want to do sales or customer service work from your own home, this is a can’t-miss job opportunity.

10.  VoiceLog

One of the things to note about VoiceLog is that you work as an independent contractor. The job often involves customer service roles where you help callers over the phone. It’s an interesting job that offers shifts of 2 to 6 hours, and you’re required to work at least 20 hours per week. If that sounds good to you, check them out!

11.  Working Solutions

I love Working Solutions because they really cater to the at-home employee. Theirs is primarily a customer service role over the phone, and they go out of their way to offer you the support you need to do your job well. There’s even a bonus for referring someone else to work for them!

12.  Xerox

Xerox is another great company that offers a work-at-home program. Work-at-home roles with Xerox go way beyond customer support and can include things like tech support, quality control, systems development, and even software programming. If you’ve got a tech background and want to work from home, see what Xerox has available!

Finding Genuine Work from Home Jobs in Any State

This list is by no means exhaustive — there are tons of companies that hire all kinds of roles (highly skilled and otherwise) in remote positions. You can certainly track down all of these companies and check their job postings regularly if that’s what you like to do. But there are other ways to find this kind of work, too.

First, you can join my newsletter where I send work-at-home job leads each week.

You can also scan the job boards — Indeed.com is a good place to start — and plug in keywords like “remote” or “telecommute” along with your regular search terms. But probably my favorite job board is FlexJobs . It’s a paid job board, but they have vetted every lead to ensure it’s legitimate. You don’t have to worry about scams! FlexJobs specializes in non-traditional arrangements like remote work, so their search feature will really let you dig down deep into the type of work you are looking for: full-time, part-time, 100% telecommute, entry level, manager level, employee positions, etc. It’s the best one-stop shop I’ve found for available work-at-home jobs, which is why I love it so much.

More Americans are experimenting with freelancing, either as a side hustle or a full-time career.

The number of professionals freelancing in the U.S. hit an all-time high in 2023, increasing to 64 million people, or 38% of the U.S. workforce, from 60 million the year earlier, according to recent research from Upwork.

Businesses are increasingly relying on freelancers to save on headcount and real estate expenses, Yoav Hornung, head of verticals and innovation at Fiverr, tells CNBC Make It .

But the services businesses are hiring independent contractors for are constantly changing, Hornung says. For example: In recent months, Fiverr has seen a marked increase in requests for AI professionals, including video editors and prompt engineers, who can help businesses leverage AI technologies to be more efficient or profitable.

In addition to AI services, here are three of the most in-demand freelance services for 2024, according to Fiverr , including what professionals on the platform are charging for them. All of these gigs can be done from home and pay over $100 per project:

Video editing

Video editors work in post-production, assembling raw footage into finished packages using different software applications. Two kinds of video editing have seen "huge demand" as of late, according to Hornung: AI video editing and social media video editing.

Between January and July 2023, searches for AI video editors increased by more than 625% on Fiverr. These creators leverage AI to customize video backgrounds, generate voiceovers and enhance audio and visual elements, among other services.

Video editing for short-form content is another in-demand skill. "The increasing popularity of 'snackable' content in the form of Reels, Shorts and TikTok has spiked demand for freelancers who can make snappy, engaging content for brands," Hornung says.

Video editors on Fiverr typically charge at least $100 per project.

Social media management and content creation

Social media managers and specialists develop, edit and promote content across different channels for a client or organization to engage with and grow their audience.

The value of a strong online presence for brands and businesses has "never been higher," says Hornung, as more people — especially younger consumers — shop on social media platforms.

One skill that will be "especially valuable" for freelance social media managers to possess in 2024, he adds, is the ability to create content that feels "authentic and genuine" for clients as more consumers demand authenticity and transparency from the brands they support.

Social media managers and specialists charge at least $150 per project.

Mobile app development

Mobile app developers are software engineers who create apps for smartphones, tablets, computers and other devices. These professionals typically work alongside graphic designers and data scientists.

Globally, people recorded nearly 77 billion mobile app downloads during the first half of 2023, up 3% from 2022, according to data.ai , a data analytics tool.

Hornung points out that, on Fiverr, searches for "app development" have seen a consistent increase since the start of 2023. He explains that more brands are adopting mobile-first strategies to meet consumers' growing preference for interacting with businesses through their phones versus computers or in person.

Mobile app developers charge at least $500 per project.

If you're considering a freelance career or side hustle in any of these fields, it's not enough to learn the technical skills you'll need to do the job — what sets the most successful freelancers apart, says Hornung, is their soft skills and endorsements.

"Trust is king," he says. "Investing in soft skills such as communication and organization, and proof of how you've used these skills, can go a long way in establishing trust between freelance professionals and their clientele base."

Clarification: This story has been updated to reflect project-based payments for each freelance role.

Working remotely doesn’t have to mean taking a pay cut. There are more high-paying legit online jobs than ever. All it takes is being aware of the possibilities.

Below are 33 legitimate online jobs where you can earn over $50,000 a year without a degree — and most of them allow you to make your own schedule. Whether you’re looking to escape the cubicle or just earn extra cash, these options can help.

What Is an Online Job?

We define an online job as any opportunity that allows you to make a full-time income online.

Not included in our list are opportunities to make extra money from home that do not generate a full-time income. Most common among these are getting paid to take online surveys . While it’s possible to earn a few hundred dollars a month with surveys, it’s not a true online job.

Best Full-Time Online Jobs for Beginners

These top online jobs have the ideal mix of high demand, a low supply of talented individuals and the opportunity to start earning fast.

Have an interest in a particular online job? In the Learn More section at the bottom of each listing, we’ve included a free, beginner-friendly resource to help you kickstart your journey.

#1. Proofreading

If you’re the type of person who spots every typo and grammar mistake in the articles you read, consider a career as a proofreader. This is a great example of a job that needs no certification, and you can use your set of eagle eyes to make solid money.

With the explosion of web content that has occurred in recent years, it’s a job that’s in super-high demand. That means you can land your first client today.

#2. Bookkeeping

At the top of many small businesses’ lists of “Least Favorite Work Activities” is bookkeeping. Of course, it’s a critical task for ensuring that a business runs smoothly and survives into the future.

If you’re someone who loves to work with numbers, you can earn very good money in the field. There are also a lot of opportunities to charge higher hourly wages the more you specialize. And, just like proofreading, bookkeeping doesn’t require a certification.

#3. Virtual Assistant

For years, most people thought of virtual assistants as low-paid overseas workers that could be trusted to handle basic administrative tasks. But now the trend isn’t to hire a VA for $5 an hour; it’s to find the highest-quality VA possible — someone who will really add value to your business.

And because of that, businesses of all sizes are willing to pay significantly higher wages to the right person with the right skills. So instead of just doing boring, repetitive tasks, you’ll be working for a successful business owner as a remote executive assistant.

Common tasks carried out by VAs include:

  • Answering emails.
  • Managing social media.
  • Scheduling appointments.
  • Some VAs take on multiple clients, allowing them to earn over six figures a year.

#4. Blogging

Blogging used to be seen as a hobby. But online media has evolved. Now, everyone from major publishers to parenting bloggers are earning serious cash with their websites.

Some types of blogging are even a form of passive income — i.e., consistent income that requires little to no effort to maintain. For example, posts I wrote over five years ago still earn income today from passive sources like advertising and affiliate marketing.

Although there is a learning curve with blogging, the potential it has makes it a worthwhile investment for those willing to put in the time and effort.

#5. Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is one of the more lucrative side hustles I’ve tried. I started small, but in a year I was earning over $100 an hour. And thanks to the growth of content marketing, it’s also a skill that’s more in-demand than ever.

In the beginning, you can expect to earn around $15 to $30 per hour for online writing jobs. But over time, as you build your portfolio and client base, you’ll be able to charge significantly more (and even make six figures a year).

#6. Website Design

Web designers have been in high demand for some time, and job growth is expected to be even higher than average over the next 10 years . Traditional coding experience isn’t required to get started, since there are a number of high-quality, no-code design platforms that allow beginners to create beautiful websites (which they can charge a premium for).

In fact, before starting this website, I freelanced as a no-code designer (using Unbounce). I was able to command rates of over $150 per hour on Upwork. Mastering the ins and outs of one of the many no-code platforms available is a great way to build a lucrative freelance business.

#7. Graphic Design

For the artists out there, graphic design is a great way to monetize your hobby. The web is becoming more visual, especially as mobile devices become the primary method of browsing.

The highest-paid graphic designers combine multiple skills into their designs. Knowledge in branding, sales and direct response marketing allow many graphic designers to charge over $100 per hour.

Websites like Canva have provided beginner graphic designers with the tools and resources they need to create professional designs and get freelance jobs.

#8. E-Commerce Store and/or Amazon FBA

Amazon FBA is a business idea that’s getting a lot of attention lately. The idea is to buy products directly from a manufacturer or wholesaler, then sell them online via Amazon. The most popular option is to use Amazon FBA, which handles all the warehousing and shipping (the “fulfillment”) for you. In fact, you can even have the manufacturer or distributor send the products directly to Amazon, so that you never have to physically touch the items.

But you don’t have to limit your selling to Amazon. You can also use FBA to ship products you sell on eBay or your own website. It’s much easier than packing and shipping everything yourself, and the shipping rates Amazon charges you are much lower than you’d pay to UPS or FedEx.

#9. Coding (Developing and Programming)

There’s huge demand for coders (i.e., software developers and programmers). And while it helps to have a computer science background, many people today are entering coding as a second career choice, even without a technical background.

There are now dozens of coding bootcamps — which are short, intensive programs that build competency in a particular coding skill — that allow you to go from beginner to job-worthy in weeks. And like most of the jobs on this list, you can do this work as both a full-time work-from-home gig for a major company, or as a side hustle from smaller projects you find on freelance sites like Upwork.

#10 Sales Copywriting

Copywriting is the ability to write text that gets someone to take action. It’s a skill that can be used online (through ads, landing pages and email) or offline (in things like sales letters and brochures).

There are simply not enough skilled copywriters out there today, so once you’ve established yourself as someone who can get results, the opportunity is plentiful.

#11. Social Media Manager

Many business owners don’t have the time to make consistent updates to their social media platforms or to respond promptly to customer requests made via social media. That’s why so many businesses today are looking to hire social media managers. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a 10% job growth rate is expected for social media marketing managers through 2031 . In addition, LinkedIn named digital marketing its top hard skill to add to your resume .

As long as you have the ability to post, curate and manage content on social media channels, you can start taking on clients today. But the big money is in learning how to effectively deploy paid advertising, such as Facebook ads. Businesses need new customer leads, and you can earn premium wages if you know how to use things like micro-targeting to deliver ads to just the right audience.

#12. Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of helping businesses get found online (primarily via Google searches). In fact, a recent study by Microsoft listed SEO as the most important hard skill for marketers to learn going forward .

In my experience, having managed local SEO campaigns in the past, there’s a lot of low-hanging fruit. That means you can drive a lot of revenue to a business just by implementing a basic set of SEO best practices. Therefore, you can charge a high hourly or project rate, knowing you’ll deliver results.

Learn more : The best way to learn SEO is with hands-on experience. Personally, I learned SEO by starting a blog and seeing what worked and what didn’t. With real proof of results on my resume, I was then able to obtain clients and earn a high rate for my work.

#13. Marketing Automation Specialist

Another beginner-level opportunity on Microsoft’s list of most important hard skills for marketers is automation. Online marketing automation platforms like Ontraport and HubSpot are seeing incredible growth right now, and more platforms are emerging all the time. Some other examples are Aweber, Convert Kit and Mailchimp.

Taking a certification course to become a specialist can often land you in the $60 to $100 per hour range fast.

Learn more : Check out HubSpot’s free marketing automation courses to get started.

#14. Video Editing and Production

Another online trend that’s picking up more steam with every passing year is video editing. Video editors with prior experience are in high demand, with the potential to earn over $50 per hour the more you specialize.

There’s no certification required to get into video editing, as the work itself becomes your resume. As such, a few fun experimental videos you publish can help you land a job or a freelancing opportunity fast.

Learn more : How to Become a Freelance Video Editor .

#15. Online Tutoring

One high-growth industry right now is online education. And one of the fastest-growing niches in the field is online tutoring jobs. There are now multiple websites — Chegg and Tutor.com being the most popular — that connect you with students all over the world who are looking to be tutored in a range of subjects.

Since some platforms only hire tutors with formal credentials, this can be an ideal side hustle for teachers who are looking for a flexible way to bolster their income.

A few things to like about online tutoring are that, in most cases:

  • The lesson plans and course materials are provided.
  • You can start teaching classes as quickly as two weeks after applying.
  • You can work when you want, where you want, with no need to worry about marketing your services.

All these factors also make it an especially good online job for retired teachers .

Learn more : Check out our article on the best online tutoring sites , which goes into more detail on each of the leading companies in the field.

16. Sales Representative

Becoming a sales representative is a great way to get your foot in the door of a fast-growing industry. The goal is to find a job opportunity with a solid starting salary and a commission structure that allows room for growth.

Those at the top of the field, such as enterprise sales reps, bring so much value to a company that they can earn seven figures .

Learn more : Read HubSpot’s ultimate guide to a career in sales for insight into potential avenues for launching a career in the field.

#17. Voiceover Artist

Voice acting is the art of reading a script and using your voice to bring that script to life. It’s a skill, and a valuable one at that, as rates can get as high as $300 for the first hour (and between $200 and $350 for each subsequent hour), according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

As a voice actor, you’ll find yourself working on commercials, videos and narrating audiobooks, among many other projects. This work can be done at home, with just a few hundred dollars of equipment.

Learn more : How to Become a Voiceover Actor — Seven Tips for Landing a Job .

#18. Technical Writing

For those who like to dive deep into learning new things — and who aren’t afraid of tackling super-complicated topics — technical writing can be a great way to generate extra income. A bachelor’s degree is very beneficial for those considering this field, but it’s not a requirement.

As a technical writer, you’ll be responsible for writing user guides and other documentation. Aside from being interesting work for those who love to research, it’s also widely recognized as one of the best freelance writing niches .

Learn more : How to Become a Technical Writer: Tips for Breaking Into This Lucrative Field .

#19. Customer Service Representative

Many companies have embraced the trend of remote work, and the call center industry is no exception. Most customer service jobs will not pay you $50,000 per year. In fact, according to Payscale, the average hourly wage for a customer service job is $14.44 . But if you’re smart about where you look and the skillsets you master, there is a path to becoming a high earner in the field.

For starters, because there’s a large supply of customer service jobs, I’d avoid looking for jobs under the name “Customer Service Representative.” Research by TheJobNetwork showed that terms like “Customer Experience Associate,” “Customer Engagement Representative,” and “Customer Service Advisor” actually paid $18 or more per hour — well more than your average customer service job.

Two fields with a lot of overlap (and higher pay than customer service) are “Account Management” and “Customer Success Manager.” In these fields, you’ll be doing a lot of customer service work, but other skills — such as cross-selling and retention — are required. As such, if you’re looking to become a high earner long-term, finding an entry-level position in account management or customer success might be your best bet.

#20. Online Chat Support

Becoming a live chat agent allows you to work in a more relaxed environment compared to a traditional customer service position, since you won’t have to deal with angry customers over the phone.

It’s also a fast-growing field, as more and more businesses are realizing the benefits of offering live chat support. As such, gaining experience now can help you land a more desirable job in the future — e.g., finding a job with a larger company that offers consistent work, better benefits, and more long-term opportunities.

#21. Dropshipping

Shopify has created hundreds of opportunities for online entrepreneurs. Why? They made the process of selling things online easy. From products and digital downloads to consulting services, over 1 million people use Shopify to run an online store.

One of the most common ways people get started is through dropshipping. The benefit of starting a dropshipping store is that orders are sent right to the customer. That means the store owners (like you) don’t have to hold inventory or deal with shipping. And since you only need to order a product after a customer has bought it from your store, it’s a very low-cost business to start.

Similar to blogging, creating a successful dropshipping store is a great skill-builder. There’s strong demand for people who can help existing businesses sell more via their Shopify store, which means there are great opportunities to freelance or get hired on a more long-term basis, depending on which you prefer.

Learn more : Shopify has a $1 one-month trial , which gives you access to a large content library of resources for getting started.

#22. Retail Arbitrage

You can make money online by flipping items for profit. Think of this online business idea as buying an asset and selling it for a higher price. Your inventory can be anything you find at a garage sale or on a clearance rack.

The goal — and the key to making retail arbitrage work — is having an information advantage. This means understanding the market for what you’re buying better than the person who is selling that item.

Remember, the concept of arbitrage is based on the principle that a particular good has a higher price in one place than it does in another. That might mean it sells for more in California than it does in New York. But it might also mean that it sells for more online than it does in a brick-and-mortar store. Winning at arbitrage means knowing how to figure out which items to buy and which ones to walk away from.

Learn more : See Mellissa and Rob Stephenson’s free workshop on retail arbitrage for actionable steps on building a profitable reselling business.

#23. Etsy Store Owner

When it comes to legit jobs for stay-at-home moms , Etsy is a very popular choice. Think of Etsy as eBay for creative people, as some of the most popular products on the platform include arts, crafts and jewelry.

You can either do Etsy as a business (there are many full-time sellers) or use it as a way to make extra money in your spare time.

Learn more : See our complete guide to making money on Etsy , which explains how to get started and offers tips from successful shop owners. For some inspiration on what to sell, check out our list of the best things to sell online .

#23. Create a Course

If you have expertise others may find valuable, you can create a course online and sell it. This used to be very hard, as you had to build your audience from scratch. But two websites, Udemy and Skillshare, now provide access to an audience of people who are eager to learn about almost everything under the sun. Also, platforms like Teachable make it easy to launch your own course if you already have an audience who knows and trusts you.

No niche is too small when it comes to creating a course. There are courses on Udemy that have over 1,000 sales about niche topics like baking sourdough bread, brewing beer and knitting.

#25. Virtual Recruiter

If you love to network, this is a great low-cost business to start. What you’re doing here is finding talent for employers. Payouts can be quite large, as some placement firms charge upwards of 25% of the employee’s annual salary.

Avoid this online business idea if you aren’t a naturally outgoing person. You’ll be cold-calling employers and constantly building your network, so that you can act as a liaison and help find the right people to hire; in other words, it’s important that you enjoy the art of communicating.

Learn more : How to Become a Recruiter — The Beginner’s Guide .

#26. Transcriptionist

There are dozens of online data entry jobs . Sites like Clickworker and Amazon’s Mechanical Turk provide typists with a lot of work opportunities, but they’re often micro-jobs — quick tasks that pay almost nothing.

In order to make over $50,000 per year with data entry jobs, you’ll need to specialize.

Healthcare is a popular field, where remote jobs such as medical coder and medical transcriptionist can pay well. (This can be a great side hustle for nurses , whose combination of medical knowledge and credentials can lead to well-above-average pay rates.)

See our list of transcription jobs that pay well to learn about the best options.

If you’re not looking for a career and just want to make some extra income, there are a number of websites where you can get started with transcription jobs on a more casual basis.

The most popular sites are:

  • Rev — make 36 to 65 cents per minute of audio transcribed.
  • Go Transcript — earn up to 60 cents per minute of audio transcribed.
  • Scribie — pay starts at $5 to $25 per hour of audio transcribed.

Learn more : Check out our list of 11 Online Transcription Jobs For Beginners .

#27. Influencer

You can’t deny the amounts of money influencers are commanding today, even beyond Instagram. As we detail in our article about making money on Snapchat , the popular social media app pays out more than $1 million per day through their Spotlight program. There are just as many (if not more) opportunities to make money on TikTok, no shortage of ways to make money with a podcast, and of course there’s also YouTube (where top video creators make millions of dollars per year ).

Becoming an influencer isn’t a money-making idea where you’re able to earn quickly (although the dream is often sold that way). It does take time to build an audience. But it teaches you a lot of valuable skills, which can help you build a career. It’s for this reason that it’s a good online job for teens to generate some income and expand career options down the road.

#28. Financial Clerk

The term “financial clerk” is a bit of a catch-all phrase that describes jobs including things like payroll, accounts payable and credit manager. Most businesses require these services, and they’re increasingly hiring contractors as opposed to bringing in-house employees on board.

This is a great field for those who don’t have a college degree, as one is not typically required. Thanks to technology, what used to take several hours now can be done in minutes. While the tasks are essential for businesses they often don’t require full-time employees, so those looking to make some extra money will find that these jobs fit into their spare time.

Learn more : What a Finance Clerk Is (And How to Become One) .

#29. Paralegal or Legal Assistant

Paralegals and legal assistants work alongside attorneys to conduct research, maintain case files and draft legal documents. The BLS lists the job growth for paralegals and legal assistants at 10% through 2029 , much faster than average.

Many employers require only an associate degree or a certificate in paralegal studies. However, this is a job that requires some experience. To avoid the old conundrum of not being able to get experience if you can’t get hired, and not being hired because you lack experience, find an internship. In this field, internships usually pay and are open to people of all ages.

Learn more : Can You Become a Paralegal with No Job Experience?

#30. Medical Assistant

With telehealth becoming a major trend, the ability to work as a remote medical assistant is also growing. Medical assistants handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, billing and ordering supplies for private practices, hospitals and medical facilities like rehabilitation centers and elderly care homes.

No college degree is required to become a medical assistant. However, since billing is typically one of the main responsibilities of the role, taking a medical coding and billing course can increase your chances of getting a job quickly. There are even online courses you can take, and some programs have job placement assistance for students that have graduated.

#31. Tax Preparer

Tax preparers prepare and file tax returns for individuals and businesses. You don’t need a degree or license to work as a tax preparer, but some states do impose some regulations.

This is a smart choice for those looking for a seasonal or part-time job , as the peak demand for tax preparers comes in the first quarter of every year. If you’re looking for more steady work, consider becoming a bookkeeper .

Learn more : How to Become a Tax Preparer .

#32. Interpreter or Translator

Interpreters and translators convert spoken or written words from one language (most often, English) into another. This field includes those who know sign language. If you do speak multiple languages, know that the demand for interpreters and translators is expected to grow 20% through 2029 , one of the highest growth trends we found.

The most important requirement here is to have proficiency in a second language. A passing knowledge of a second language is not sufficient for either of these careers — you must be fully fluent. While a bachelor’s degree can help you get hired by a Fortune 500 company, there is plenty of freelance work available on sites like Upwork and Fiverr.

Learn more : How to Become an Interpreter or Translator .

#33. Market Research Analyst

Most market research analysts working at large companies do hold a bachelor’s degree. But it’s worth mentioning here because it’s easy to break into the market research field online as a freelance product tester.

As a complete beginner, you can consider taking online surveys for money , which pay closer to $5/hour. In other words, they’re good for earning a gift card or two a month but they’re not a full-time online job.

One step up is the ability to work for micro-job sites like UserTesting , which pay you per hour to test apps and websites. With UserTesting, you earn $4 for every five-minute test, $10 for every 20-minute test, and between $30 and $120 for live interviews.

Freelancing as a market research analyst provides the highest upside. A typical job could be working for a non-fiction author to aggregate information around a certain topic.

Best Online Job FAQs

When you work from home, you’ll usually (but not always) be classified as an independent contractor. That means you’re working on a per-hour or per-project basis, rather than for a set annual salary. As a result, your annual earnings can vary widely based on a number of factors. If you’re organized, motivated and efficient, you can often earn more money for the same amount of work as compared to a more traditional work environment. But on the flip side, if you’re someone who finds it difficult to stay focused and has a tendency to coast through the day, you might end up making significantly less. That’s because as a freelancer or contractor, you’re only getting paid for the work you actually do. Being at home can be distracting, and it’s easy to end up with only four billable hours after an eight-hour workday. Your take-home pay will also depend on the types of contracts you’re able to win. You’ll make a lot more money as a paid social media manager than you will by doing online data entry jobs.

Referrals from your network are always an ideal place to start your job search.  Other avenues include sites like FlexJobs . A strictly remote job board, FlexJobs screens each listing before making it available to applicants. Beyond FlexJobs, Indeed is another job board that’s worth checking out, as it has the most powerful search engine among job listing websites. One of Indeed’s most helpful free features is its job alerts function, which allows you to get an email any time a new job opportunity that matches your parameters opens up.

As with any job, the necessary qualifications depend on the type of work you’re seeking. In general, if you need a certification to do the work in person, you’ll also need one to do it online. However, some jobs — such as freelance writing and editing jobs — can be easier to get online if you have limited work experience. For example, while few newspapers will hire a journalist who has zero training, it’s fairly easy to gain a foothold as a content writer for a blog or website.

If you’re looking to freelance instead of working directly with a company, platforms like Upwork , Fiverr and Toptal are great starting points. These websites provide access to a wide range of jobs and clients, as well as tools and resources to help you manage your projects and communicate with clients )making it easy to work efficiently and professionally).

Amazon hires for both its customer service and technical positions (like software developers) on a remote-first basis. See our guide to working from home for Amazon to learn where to look for positions depending on your skillset.

Work-from-home scams often disguise themselves as real job opportunities on popular job search websites. The common theme among these opportunities is that there’s little to no information about key facts such as hourly wages and benefits. Some even require you to make a payment upfront, which is a major red flag. To protect yourself, research the company offering the job on sites like Glassdoor , which lets past employees leave anonymous reviews. You’ll also want to check popular review sites and make sure real customers are leaving reviews, in addition to the Better Business Bureau.

Payment methods vary by employer and platform. PayPal is a popular choice for freelance work, allowing you to send and invoice, and receive payments globally. Most companies that hire freelancers have a PayPal account. Freelance sites like Upwork and Fiverr handle payments for you, but there may be processing fees. If you’re working for a company, ideally set up direct deposit so the money goes directly to your bank account.

may i ask if there is a job for typist?

While a typist is a common online job, the majority of positions don’t allow you to earn over $50K a year.

That said, there are some higher paying niches within the space, where it may be possible to earn a higher salary.

Please check out: https://www.thewaystowealth.com/make-money/online-typing-jobs/

Good day do you have any online job about encoder or mathematics tutor? Thank you

Hello there,

VIPKID and Education First specialize in language learning. This is one area where there’s a lot of demand right now.

Math tutors are in demand as well. You just have to head to a different site.

Check out our post on the best online tutoring jobs: https://www.thewaystowealth.com/make-money/best-online-tutoring-jobs/

I’d check into sites like Wyzant, Club Z, and Chegg which hire tutors from a range of subjects.

I have done quite a bit (training/development/recruitment for the hospitality industry. Are there opportunities online for hotel tourism.?

It’s hard for me to say as not being an expert in the hospitality industry. In addition, it’s an industry that’s been hit the hardest as of late.

FlexJobs does have a page with recent listings in the hospitality industry: https://www.flexjobs.com/jobs/travel-hospitality

I’d start there to get a sense of what’s out there.

Hi Mr. Weiss. I read your article. It is interesting, but I did not think on the same way. There are many freelance websites with a lot of bad reviews in Trustpilot and other websites — for example Fiverr, Workana, Freelancers.com and more sites had a lot of scam reviews and bad user experience for buyers and sellers.

I can’t speak for Workana or Freelancers.com (which I haven’t used), but Fiverr and Upwork are both legit, well-known and reputable sites that provide solid platforms for earning money as a freelancer.

If you’re concerned about not getting paid, I would strongly recommend sticking to those two sites. Upwork in particular offers excellent protection for freelancers — just make sure you’re applying to jobs that show as “funded.” That means the client has already placed the stated budget in escrow.

Additionally, Upwork offers a payment protection policy, so long as you use its app to track your hours.

Is there a site to apply for the graphic design online?

There are a number of different sites where you can earn money with your graphic design skills. The two most popular are Upwork and Fiverr, which are general freelance marketplaces where you’ll find all kinds of work — from creating Pinterest graphics to developing full branding/visual style guides for small businesses.

99Designs, which is a marketplace exclusively for graphic design work, is another popular option. While there are some sites that focus on specific niches — such as t-shirt design — I would stick with those three platforms if you’re new to the gig economy. They’re reputable, fairly easy to get started on, and generally pay decent rates.

Hello! I really like the article and already am looking into a bunch of the suggested places. I was interested in the legal area but there wasn’t any suggestions of recommendations like the other topics had. Do you have any places to look for legal home work or even that just guide you on how to get into it? Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Have you considered digital/electronic file work?

Another option is going the virtual assistant route, aiming to work for a lawyer/law office. I took a quick look and there are some admin positions for law firms on Upwork.

Your article was very instructive. Thank you for that. What could you recommend as remote job for someone with multilingual skills? And what could be the average pay

My first thought is to become a translator. See # 32, “#32. Interpreter Or Translator”
