On Instagram, you can change your display name or username whenever you want, as often as you want. Follow the guide below to change your Instagram name and/or handle.

Your Instagram display name and username are two separate things. Your display name appears below your profile icon, and it doesn't have to be unique. You can even add emojis or special characters to spice it up.

Your Instagram handle, or username, on the other hand, appears at the top of your Instagram profile. This is your unique identifier. It can't be longer than 30 characters, and special characters aren't allowed here. You can only use letters, periods, numbers, or underscores.

You can change both your name and handle from your Instagram profile.

To change your display name, open Instagram on your iPhone or Android device. Tap your Profile icon in the bottom-right corner.

Tap on the Profile icon from Instagram app

Next, tap "Edit Profile."

Tap on Edit Profile button from your Profile in Instagram

Tap the text box next to "Name," and then tap the Delete icon (x) to remove your current display name.

Tap on Cross button to delete the current Instagram name

Now, type your new name. When you're finished, tap "Done."

Type out new name and tap on the Done button

Instagram returns you to your profile, where you'll see your new display name.

It's just as easy to change your Instagram handle, as long as the username you want isn't already being used by someone else.

You start the process the same way you did to change your display name. Open Instagram, go to your Profile, and then tap "Edit Profile."

Tap the text box next to "Username."

Tap on Username option in Profile menu

Now, tap the Delete icon (x) to delete your current username.

Tap on Cross icon to delete current Instagram username

Type your new username, and then tap "Done."

Change the Instagram handle

If that username isn't available, the app will tell you. If it's unavailable, try adding a period or underscore, or choose another username. Tap "Done" once again to submit the new username.

Confirm the Instagram handle or username and tap on Done

After your new username is accepted, you'll return to the "Edit Profile" section. Tap "Done."

Tap on Done button from Edit Profile

You'll now see your updated username at the top of your Instagram profile.

If you decide to go back to your old username, you can try to switch it back. Instagram will save your previous username for 14 days. After that, though, it's released into the wild. Even then, you can still switch back to it, though, as long as no one else has claimed it.

Some social platforms limit the number of times you can change your username, while others don’t let you do it at all. Instagram is a username free-for-all; you can alter your Instagram handle whenever you want, as many times as you want — within certain limits.

There’s a difference between your username and your display name. The display name is on your profile below your avatar. It doesn’t need to be unique to you, and it can contain emoji and special characters. (And yes, it can also be changed — up to two times within 14 days.)

Your username, on the other hand, appears at the top of your profile and at the end of your profile’s URL. It needs to be unique to you. It’s also subject to more restrictions: it can’t be longer than 30 characters and can only contain letters, numbers, periods, and underscores. If you choose a new username, you can change it back within 14 days — if nobody else has claimed it.

Whether you’ve changed your real-life name, you’re upgrading to a more professional username, or you’re just bored of your current moniker, you can change your handle in less than a minute. Here’s how.

Change your username in the Instagram app

First, log in to your Instagram account on the iOS or Android app. If you have more than one account, double-check that you’re logged in to the one you’re trying to change.

  • Tap your avatar icon in the bottom-right corner to go to your profile
  • Tap Edit profile under your bio
  • Tap the Username field and type in your new handle
  • Tap the blue checkmark in the upper right corner.

Mobile Instagram page

If you want to change your display name, type in the Name field instead.

Change your username on a computer

If you prefer, you can change your username with the desktop version of Instagram.

  • In a web browser, go to
  • If you’re already logged in, you’ll be prompted to continue with your account. If you’re not already logged in, enter your username and password.
  • Click your profile icon on the right side of the homepage and select Profile
  • Click Edit profile next to your username

Instagram log-in page

Again, if you make a mistake during this process or decide you don’t like your new handle after all, you can go back to your old handle within 14 days. After that time, you may still be able to revert, but your old handle may have been taken by another user.

If your username is taken...

As mentioned before, you can’t have the same username as someone else, and it’s first come, first served. If your chosen handle is taken, Instagram will let you know after you press the checkmark on mobile or Submit on the web.

If the name you want isn’t available, try adding numbers or underscores to make it unique to you.

Also, keep checking back. Your desired username may become available in the future. The current owner may change or delete their profile, and Instagram occasionally removes fake accounts.

Why Change Your Instagram Email?

In the dynamic realm of Instagram, your Instagram username plays a crucial role in shaping your online identity. Quick Instagram username updates can make a world of difference. Here’s why it’s worth considering:

  • Account Security: Imagine reinforcing your digital stronghold with a simple email switch. By regularly updating your email, you’re not only enhancing your account’s security but also ensuring a swift recovery if a password hiccup occurs.
  • Instagram Notifications: Think about your Instagram notifications. Changing your email might affect the way you receive important updates and alerts from the platform. Make sure to adjust your notification settings accordingly after the email change.
  • Personal Preference: Life evolves, and so do our email preferences. Whether you’ve adopted a new email persona or left an old one behind, aligning your Instagram with your current choice ensures seamless communication in your inbox.
  • Professional Use: For those steering their Instagram journey towards professionalism, switching to a business email elevates your virtual handshake, setting the tone for fruitful networking and collaboration. So, consider updating your Instagram username for a more secure and personalized online presence.

Things to Consider When Changing Your Instagram Email

Before you take the leap and change your Instagram email, here are a few important things to keep in mind:

  • Email Activeness: Make sure the new email you’re opting for is up and running. Instagram will fire off a confirmation email to this address, and you’ll need to click through to verify it. Ensuring your email’s activity guarantees a seamless process.
  • Security Check: If security is your driving force, consider using an email that’s exclusive to Instagram. This prevents interlinking with your other social media accounts, adding an extra layer of protection to your online presence.
  • Confirm the Confirmation: Don’t overlook this step! Once you’ve requested the change, watch out for the confirmation email. Clicking on it is essential; without this final click, your Instagram email won’t budge from its current state

By keeping these points in your pocket, you’re all set for a smooth email transition that aligns with your goals and ensures that you remain in control of your Instagram journey.

In a world where hashtags and double-taps shape our digital lives, there’s one tiny hero often overlooked – your email address. It’s the key to your Instagram universe, helping you regain access, stay updated, and securely cruise through your account.

So, as we wrap up this guide, remember this: keeping your email current is like giving your account an invisible shield. Whether you’re beefing up security or just giving your profile a fresh vibe, changing your Instagram email is a breeze.

What's New with Instagram? Updates, Algorithm Changes, and New Features

Keep up with the latest Instagram news and updates! We update this article every month to bring you all the Instagram updates, algorithm changes, and latest features. The most recent updates will always be at the top of the article.

What's New with Instagram? Updates, Algorithm Changes, and New Features

Instagram has been rolling out some pretty significant recently and it doesn't look like they're slowing down any time soon. It can be a headache to stay on top of it all as a creator, not knowing why your content's underperforming or how to use a new feature. To help you keep up with the new Instagram updates, we'll be updating this article whenever there's been a significant announcement or a big feature release.

Here are the latest most significant updates that Instagram has announced:

July 2022 Instagram Changes

From TikTok to BeReal, Instagram sure knows how to take a leaf out of the competition's book and we saw a lot of that reflected in the Instagram updates rolled out in July.

Here's what's new with Instagram in July:

  • All Instagram Videos Are Now Reels
  • Dual Camera Comes to Reels
  • More Options for Remix (aka Reels' Stitch and Duet)
  • New Features for Subscriptions
  • Payments in Chat on Instagram

All Instagram Videos Are Reels Now

Have you been wondering "Why is my Instagram feed only showing Reels?" Well, there are a number of factors, like the influx of suggested posts , but this update is also partly responsible. On July 21, 2022, Instagram made official what they started testing in June: the Reels merge.

change with instagram

What does this mean for creators? Any video shorter than 15 minutes will be shared as a Reel. That means 9:16 vertical orientation , access to the Reels sound library and editing studio , and that your video will be discoverable in the Reels feed (as well as the regular feed because, let's face it, they're basically the same thing these days) if you have a public account. For users with private accounts, your Reels will only be visible to accounts that follow you, same as other types of posts.

This update will be rolled out to all users over the next few weeks.

There's been a not insignificant amount of backlash about this Reels merge updates. And from some pretty heavy hitters in the social media influencesphere:

we don’t wanna make videos Adam lol — chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) July 26, 2022

Even the Kardashian-Jenners got involved, which, as Snapchat can tell you, might be bad for business.

The last time Kylie Jenner complained about a social media site, Snapchat lost $1.3B, so yeah Instagram has a problem. — Frank Pallotta (@frankpallotta) July 25, 2022

Instagram Introduces a Dual Camera Feature

It's time to Be Reels.

Instagram added a dual camera feature to Reels and Stories so that you can capture photo and video from both your front camera and back camera at the same time.

change with instagram

If that sounds familiar, you're probably thinking about BeReal , the "not another social media app" that pioneered that format. A coincidence that the BeReal meme started to take off on Twitter the same month that Instagram added this feature? Probably. But maybe not.

Either way, you can use this feature in a very BeReal way by grabbing an in the moment pic of yourself and your surroundings for your Story. You can also make Reels that show both your surroundings and your live reaction to what you're filming.

Reels Remix Gets More Options

Instagram introduced Remix as a way for users to interact with and build off of each other's posts. Previously, you could only Remix other Reels and, to borrow from the TikTok glossary, you could only "duet" the video. Your remix would show up side by side with the original.

So, what's new with Reels Remix ?

change with instagram

A few things.

  • Instagram Reel's Version of "Stitching": Similar to TikTok's Stitch feature, you can now Remix a Reel by having your clip play after the original instead of at the same time.
  • More layout options for Remixed Reels: The classic, side-by-side Remix still exists, but you now have more control over how it looks. Among the new layout options added to Reels are the TikTok favorites — green screen, horizontal split, and picture in picture. Great for reaction videos and, well, duets.
  • Remixing Photos: You can now remix any public Reels and photos. And since all new videos shorter than 15 minutes are Reels, that means you can remix most of the content on Instagram (with the exception of Stories and shopping posts).

Not everyone is happy with the new Remix features, specifically the addition of photos to the (re)mix. Concerns mostly revolve around privacy and how Remix was automatically enabled for all accounts when the update went out.

So...this sucks. It's definitely on some, if not all accounts already so I'd advise you guys to check yours. If you want to turn this off it's found under settings > privacy > reels and remix — Dylan St. Jaymes (@Dylan_StJaymes) July 22, 2022

If you haven't already, here's how you can disable remix if you have a public account:

Instagram Subscriptions Gets New Features

Not sure what Instagram Subscriptions are ? It's kind of like Patreon, but on Instagram. Creators are able to choose their own pricing tiers and make a recurring monthly income from followers who want to support them financially instead of relying exclusively on brand sponsorships and their Reels Play Bonus revenue.

Users who subscribe to a specific creator get access to exclusive content. When Instagram started testing Subscriptions at the beginning of 2022, that exclusive content was limited to just Stories and Lives. Now eligible creators can make Posts and Reels for their subscribers as well as invite subscribers to join "Subscriber Chats."

change with instagram

Unfortunately, Instagram hasn't rolled out Subscriptions to all Instagram creators and they don't provide clear parameters for eligibility . Clicking on the provided link to view requirements takes you to a "This product might not be available to you yet" message and a generic statement about meeting Community Guidelines and Monetary Policies requirements.

change with instagram

So, it looks like at this time, you either have access or you don't. But if you do, you can enable Subscriptions by going to your Professional Dashboard and selecting "Set up Subscriptions." Then you can start making exclusive Reels for your biggest fans.

Shop with Small Businesses Right from Your DMs

Instagram has been tapping into the e-commerce space for a while now and it's easier than ever to shop without leaving the app . Now they've rolled out another way to shop on Instagram, this one specifically targeting the small business niche: in chat payments.

Essentially, you'll be able to chat with your favorite small business owners, artisans, and creators about a product you'd like to purchase then make the purchase right there in the chat. While that might not sound necessary for most purchases, there are a few use cases where it increases convenience for both buyer and seller quite a bit.

change with instagram

For example, if you're purchasing something that needs customizing, you'll likely need to communicate with the seller. Then, once you've settled all the details they can send you a payment request and you can pay it without ever leaving the chat.

This is also a great tool for creators and small businesses that might not have an Instagram shop set up yet. You can inquire about the availability of merchandise and purchase all in one interaction.

That's it for recent Instagram updates for now. We'll be updating this post monthly (or more often if there's some breaking news!), so bookmark it and stay tuned. In the meantime, check out our Resource Library . We publish new articles weekly, packed with creator news, tips, and tricks.

What’s New on Instagram in 2024: New Features and Updates

In 2024, with over 2.35 billion users worldwide, Instagram is still one of the most prominent players on the social media landscape, and for a good reason. The social media network never stops growing and developing which means it also regularly introduces new functionalities.

This article covers the most recent Instagram updates and features for 2024 and also those from 2023 that you might have missed.

If you’re a social media marketer, keeping track of social media platform updates is a must. We’ve created this handy blog post so you can have the information about all the essential Instagram changes in one place and use them to your advantage.

We’ll cover the new Instagram updates first and then recap the older but still significant ones. So, without further due, let’s look at all the nifty features that Instagram has rolled out recently.

Group chat conversation starters in Notes

Instagram dm themes, instagram introduces ai stickers for stories and dms, you can now zoom in on instagram profile pictures, instagram tests out location tags in notes, instagram launches its new app called ‘threads’, instagram new group profile feature, multiple links in bio update, you can now schedule posts within the instagram app, instagram feed with no ads and no suggested posts, instagram video posts are now reels only.

Instagram is currently testing out the new feature of Notes prompts. It’s an another way for users to engage and spice up their group chats by posting frequently used conversation starters.

You can ask a question and others will see it and add their responses in an visible-to-all panel so that all group chat members can view the comments and interact with one another.

If this feature is already available for you, you can create your own custom stickers using AI 🙂 How cool is that?!

Once you find and click on the ‘AI stickers’ sticker, type in what you want AI to generate, and that’s it!

Instead of using third-party apps to view Instagram profile pictures in full size, users can now do that in the Instagram app.

All it takes is to press and hold a user’s profile picture from the level of their profile page.

PS. If this feature doesn’t work for you yet – be patient; Instagram is usually rolling out features gradually.

Instagram Notes is a relatively new feature launched in late 2022. They are short status bubbles shown in the DM Inbox that you can use to share quick thoughts with your followers or people in your close friends list.

Currently, Instagram is testing out location tags in Notes, and a select group of users can add location tags that link to the Instagram location page for a given place.

Threads is a new app made by Instagram where users can post threads, reply to others and follow profiles that they’re interested in. It’s a direct Twitter competitor.

Here’s some more info on Threads:

  • Threads and replies can take various forms, including short pieces of text, links, photos, videos, or any combination of them.
  • People can follow each other to see their threads and replies in their feeds and from their profiles.
  • Users can decide who can see their posts in profile privacy settings.
  • People can reply to posts to join the discussion or like, share, quote, or repost content.
  • Anyone with an Instagram account can create a Threads profile.

When you create a profile on Threads, it becomes linked to the Instagram account you used to log in. The data obtained from your Instagram account and used on Threads may encompass:

  • Your login information for Instagram
  • Your unique Instagram account ID
  • Your Instagram name and username
  • Information present in your Instagram profile, including your profile picture, bio, and links
  • Your Instagram followers
  • The accounts you follow on Instagram
  • Your age as stated on Instagram
  • The status of your Instagram account in relation to intellectual property violations and instances of non-compliance with Instagram’s Community Guidelines.

Instagram Threads - Instagram new features and updates

According to Meta , “We are testing the ability to join a Group Profile and share Stories, Feed posts, or Reels with group members, so people can connect with others over their interests in a dedicated space.”

change with instagram

Similar to Facebook Groups, Instagram is testing its own version that enables multiple users to collaborate and share content on a single page. This feature allows individuals or communities on Instagram to come together and contribute to a shared space, fostering collaboration and collective content creation.

The feature is being gradually rolled out. We may assume it will be available to users worldwide soon.

Our prayers have been heard…

Instagram is rolling out a new update that can easily replace Linktree and other ‘link in bio’ paid software providers.

To use the feature, tap “Edit profile,” then “Links,” then “Add external link.” You can drag and drop the links in the order you want them to appear.

Multiple Instagram links in bio

At long last, you can now schedule your Instagram posts within the app itself. This adds a level of convenience by allowing users to set a specific publication date for their posts. However, the feature doesn’t allow cross-posting to other IG accounts or different social media platforms.

To schedule your Instagram post within the IG app, go to Advanced Settings while creating your post, click on Schedule , and set the desired publication time.

The feature is currently being rolled out and should be available for everybody soon 🙂

Instagram new features and updates - instagram post scheduling

Weren’t you tired of browsing through your IG feed that was overflowing with suggested posts from users you don’t follow and sponsored posts that you don’t care about? I know I definitely was.

At long last, you can now browse your IG feed made up of posts from only the people that you follow – no suggested posts or ads in your way.

All you have to do is click on Instagram in the top left corner and choose Following , and that’s it! 😉

Instagram new features and new updates - ig feed with no ads and suggested posts

Unfortunately, this new feature works on feed posts only and not Instagram Stories.

From now on, you won’t be able to post regular video posts on Instagram – all new video posts will be Reels.

This may be quite upsetting to some users since you can’t even post a square video from a horizontally-recorded clip (or any other clip as a matter of fact).

But here’s a way around it if you wish to post square videos:

  • Start creating a carousel post with a picture
  • Choose a video clip for your carousel
  • Deselect your picture so that only the video clip is left

And that’s it! Your video should now be in a square format 😉

Instagram Grid Pinning

The most recent Instagram update allows you to pin your posts to the top of your IG grid.

You like it? You pin it 📌 You can now choose up to three posts or Reels to pin to the top of your profile. — Instagram (@instagram) June 7, 2022

In other words, your older content can still shine 😉 This feature is nothing new on platforms like Twitter or TikTok, but we definitely needed it for Instagram.

Instagram is gradually implementing another handy feature. It allows users to upload Instagram Stories for up to 60 seconds long, without the ever-frustrating cuts after every 15 seconds.

It’s definitely a very useful feature; the playback of your Story clip will be smoother, and you can include all the user mentions, tags, locations, links, etc. in one longer Story – no need to repeat the process after every 15 seconds, yay!

The Instagram algorithm operation principle has been a total mystery for a long time, and trying to get on top of it was mostly based on guessing and a trial & fail process. Although this has changed after Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri explained it in a video posted on his Twitter account.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Adam Mosseri (@mosseri)

It seems that currently, the most important factors that affect what users see in their IG feeds are:

  • Post’s popularity indicators – how many people clicked like, where it was located, what its duration was (if it was a video)
  • How frequently the user interacted with the account in the past
  • How many posts the user has liked
  • User’s engagement with the accounts’ other content

We strongly suggest watching the whole video, it might really help you understand the social platform better and have your communication start yielding better results!

Reels have been rapidly gaining popularity ever since Instagram introduced them in 2020. Instagram is really investing in this new format and is constantly looking to upgrade it, as we could see in July 2021, when the platform decided to double up the Reels’ maximum duration. The new Instagram feature is being regularly updated with even more editing options like the most recent additions: double exposure feature or timer.

Instagram new features and updates - ig reel hulk

Let’s have a deeper look into what you can do with Reels. Basically, Reels are full-screen vertical posts that can last from 15 seconds up to 1 minute. This function also allows you to combine multiple short videos into one. What’s more, Reels can be equipped with a variety of extras to make the content even more engaging:

  • Music – you can add a song of your choice and adjust music vs. video’s original sound ratio
  • Voiceover – you can record your own commentary
  • Doodles – you can draw over your video
  • Stickers – after you’ve filmed a new Reel, you can add a sticker to it
  • Effects – used the same as in Stories
  • Timer – so you don’t need to hold your phone while recording a video

Instagram is testing even more new features for Reels:

  • Video Layout allows users to capture multiple videos in separate windows one after another and then play them combined.
  • Double exposure feature that allows users to capture a photo and then record a video on top of it.

Read this article to learn about some lesser-known Reels hacks.

Instagram Posts Collabs

Another useful feature is that you can now create joint posts. The post will appear both on your feed and on your collaborator’s profile.

To create a joint post, you need to create your regular post (Reels also work), then click on Tag people, and then on Invite collaborator.

Reels Visual Replies

By the end of 2021 Instagram introduced yet another Reel update, called ‘Reels Visual Replies’. This feature allows you to reply to comments (given by every follower who comments on your Reels) posts using videos.

This feature is yet another great way for creators to engage with their followers by creating content inspired by their activity in the comments section.

Where to find Instagram Reels

To access the Reels creation area you need to tap the ‘+’ icon in the top right corner of the screen and choose ‘Reels’. Some of the Reels’ features can be used while recording, while others only when the recording is done. Give it a go and create your own, engaging content!

There is one more thing – you can come back to any of your Reels anytime and remix it, which results in virtually unlimited ability to play with your content.

If you click the ‘play’ icon in the bottom center of your screen, you can quickly browse Reels.

You can now also search for other Reels that use the same music by clicking the audio icon inside a given Reel.

Embedding Instagram photos or videos on a website isn’t a novelty but up until recently, it was not possible to embed a whole profile in a native-looking way. Well, it is possible now!

This update made it easier to showcase Creator’s profiles in different parts of the Internet.

Instagram Playback

In 2021 Instagram announced the ‘Playback feature’ that allows users to re-share their best Stories on the occasion of New Year’s Eve. It proved to be a great way for the users to celebrate their favorite moments of the past year.

Instagram new features and updates - playback feature

Another one of Instagram’s new updates is the Map Search. This feature is very similar to Google maps and allows users to find the location of different businesses within the Instagram app.

Map search is located inside Instagram’s regular browser that you use to search for other users, hashtags, etc.

Instagram new features and updates - ig map search

It’s quickly becoming one of the best tools to explore new gems if you’re in a previously unknown area. What’s more, users can easily see more information like location, price of products and services, and public posts marked with the business’ location by clicking on a concrete location icon on the map.

Instagram has introduced Creator mode for accounts with over 10 000 followers some time ago, and it continues to develop this part of the app to help influencers make the most of their experience with it. From enabling creators to see more of their accounts’ statistics to simplifying messaging for them, the Creator mode really made a difference.

The Creator mode keeps evolving and gaining new features such as a whole new section of Instagram marketing tips that creators can use to their advantage while designing new content. Another move towards a better creator experience was the introduction of the Professional Dashboard.

Instagram new features and updates - ig creator mode

Instagram has made another step toward better analytics in 2021 by introducing the Professional Dashboard. This feature is available for all creator and business accounts and can serve as a main in-app dashboard to analyze your account’s performance. Here’s the list of its main tools and resources:

  • Overall account performance
  • Instagram Insights
  • Branded Content Approvals
  • Instagram Shopping
  • Saved Replies

Instagram new features and updates - professional dashboard

The Professional Dashboard is a great tool to have a quick overview of your statistics but if you want to dive a little deeper, you still need to go to Instagram Insights for that.

Instagram has once again updated its analytics tool to give creators and businesses better insight into their accounts’ performance. The first major change is that you can now see data from up to 90 days instead of 30 or 60. It is also possible to measure your live video performance. Insights currently give you visibility of statistics for your:

  • Accounts reached – overview of your profile’s reach metrics divided by geography, gender, age, followers vs. non-followers, content types reach, ads, and more
  • Accounts engaged – This section lets you measure your accounts engagement split between different content types in more detail.
  • Total followers – This part lets you measure your followers’ base dynamics with an insight into their demographics.
  • Content you shared – More data about your content & user interactions divided by content and interaction type (even interactions like Business Address Taps or Email Button Taps)

This is for sure an upgrade compared to the previous version. Although, if you manage multiple social media profiles, you might want to step your game up with NapoleonCat and its Analytics feature , where you can have a bird’s-eye view over all of your accounts regardless of the social platform and generate Instagram reports within seconds.

Instagram has been moving towards hiding the number of likes under posts since 2019. Currently, you can choose whether you’d like to hide this information from your posts or not. To do that, you need to go to one of your posts, click the three dots in the top right corner and choose ‘ Hide like count ’.

Even though many users are starting to use it, you can still peep someone’s like count in NapoleonCat – regardless of whether a user chooses to hide them or not.

Most Instagram users are already used to seeing new stickers in their Stories editing panel from time to time. The most current set of stickers available to each user might differ based on their account type.

Having said that, let’s take a look at some of the newest & most popular ones.

Instagram new features and updates - ig story interactive stickers

Shopping sticker

This sticker’s name says it all. Adding it to your story will enable your followers to make the purchase directly from Instagram Stories. Keep in mind that you need to have the Shopping feature already set up to use this sticker. If you want your partners to be able to add this sticker and redirect to your products, you also need to enable this option in the Shopping Partners section of your account settings.

Music sticker

This one has been long-awaited by users in many countries, and now the Music sticker is getting widely accessible. Use it to enrich your story with your favorite song!

Location Sticker

The location sticker allows you to share your current location if you want to share a particularly cool place with your followers.

Mention sticker

Mention another user or business in your Story. This will also enable them to reshare the Story on their profile to increase their reach.

Questions sticker

Add a Questions sticker to encourage your followers to share feedback on your chosen topic. You can also use it to enable users to ask you some questions which you can later answer on separate Stories to propel even more interaction with your audience.

Quiz sticker

A great use for this sticker is to ask questions related to your profile’s area of interest and see how well your followers perform & strengthen your brand recognition .

Poll sticker

Similarly to the Quiz sticker, this is a great sticker to discover your followers’ opinions . Especially useful for supporting decision-making for future content ideas by involving your followers’ voice in the creation process.

Donation sticker

This sticker allows you to select a nonprofit organization and enables your followers to donate. All nonprofits will receive 100% of the money you raise.

Countdown sticker

If you have an important event coming soon, there’s no better way to remind your followers about it than by using the Countdown sticker.

Add Yours sticker

The ‘Add yours’ is a bit similar to the discontinued Challenge sticker. All you need to do is to invite others to share their own Stories about any topic you want or tap at the bottom to have one chosen for you and tap ‘Done’. In order to see Stories from other people who have added your prompt, tap the sticker on your own Story.

Also, you can use the three dots icon at the top to see additional options for managing your stickers such as turning off notifications or hiding your username.

Customizable Link sticker

The Link sticker is no longer reserved for bigger Instagram accounts with over 10k followers. It’s now available for all of us, yay!

In order to use it, you need to enter the URL of the website that you want the sticker to link to. Tap ‘See preview’ below the link to check what the link will look like when someone opens it. Anyone who can see your Story can tap the sticker and visit the linked site.

But there’s more! Now you can customize the appearance of the sticker and turn it into a clickable call-to-action which gives a great number of new options for Instagram marketing.

Food Orders sticker

Adding a Food Orders sticker to your Instagram Story enables other users to order your business’s food from your partner’s website.

This sticker is especially useful for smaller restaurants that don’t have a lot of recognition but also an invaluable tool if you choose to cooperate with an influencer who could add this sticker onto their Stories to drive traffic to your business.

Support small business sticker

This sticker has been making the name for itself throughout the pandemic and for a good reason. Covid-19 and other restrictions have had a big negative impact on businesses, especially smaller ones. Instagram decided to enable users to support their favorite small businesses with a dedicated sticker to help them grow their reach and recognition.

This means that by using the sticker, you can tag any business with an Instagram profile to help them get to a bigger audience. For example, if you work for a small food chain or a similar type of business and have multiple profiles created for different locations, you could use the sticker to cross-promote them.

Instagram Shops & In-shop Ads

Facebook (or now: Meta) has been strongly investing in developing its eCommerce side by introducing Facebook and Instagram Shops that are accessible directly in the apps. Thanks to this, businesses can create customizable catalogs of their products that users can browse, save, share, and purchase from.

This needs to be first set up , but once you do, you can showcase your products using many different options, like adding a cover image or picking a color theme to add a unique look and feel to your online store.

Users can access Facebook Shops through Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, or even through Stories and ads. It’s now possible to purchase a product without leaving the app if the business has enabled checkout in the US. What’s new is that Instagram is testing displaying ads inside the Shopping area which can turn into another strong marketing tool in any business’s arsenal.

The Dip in 2024 Tax Refunds: Why It's Happening and How to Tweak Your W-4

Don't be alarmed, on average US tax refunds are 13% lower this year. Here are ways you can receive a bigger one.

Your W-4 form determines the amount of money withheld from your paycheck for income taxes.

A magnifying glass and pen are placed on an IRS W-4 form

After two weeks of filing , IRS statistics show  tax refunds are trending lower this year. The average tax refund so far is $1,741 -- a 13% drop from the average at this time last year, and a 46% drop from the $3,252 average for the total 2023 tax season.

It's always nice to receive a hefty check from the government, but a bigger tax refund might not be as great as it seems. After all, that tax refund check represents the money you overpaid the government throughout the previous year, and you could have gotten that money much earlier in larger paychecks.

Luckily, it's fairly simple to make your tax refund bigger or smaller each year: It takes just a few minutes, once you have the paperwork in hand. The IRS even bakes the process into one simple step on its tax forms.

Learn how to adjust your IRS W-4 tax form to change the size of your tax refund, and all of the factors you should consider before doing so. For more, learn whether your income from Social Security is taxable  and our picks for the best tax software .

What is a W-4 form?

A W-4 form is a federal tax form from the IRS that lets your employer know how much money should be withheld from your paycheck for federal taxes. The IRS website says that taxpayers should "consider completing a new Form W-4 each year and when your personal or financial situation changes."

The W-4 form was revised for the 2020 tax season to "reduce the form's complexity and increase the transparency and accuracy of the withholding system." Withholding allowances -- or exemptions that reduced the amount withheld -- were eliminated and replaced by calculations of additional untaxed income and expected tax deductions.

How do I change my W-4 to get a bigger tax refund?

If you want to get more money back in your tax refund each year, you can designate that a larger amount of your paycheck is withheld. It's simple -- just enter the extra amount you want withheld from each paycheck on line 4(c) of your W-4 form . The line is marked "Extra withholding."

To request more money be withheld from your paycheck, enter the amount into line 4(c) of the W-4 form.

Likewise, if you find yourself owing taxes to the IRS each year, adding the right amount of extra withholding via line 4(c) of your W-4 can reduce your tax burden to zero each year. Just divide the amount you usually pay in federal taxes by the number of paychecks you receive in a year to find out how much extra should be withheld each pay period.

While lending the IRS your money for 12 months or more at no interest might seem nuts to the financially disciplined, it's an undeniably bulletproof method of saving money. You might not be earning interest, but you're not spending it.

Why shouldn't I increase my withholding to get a bigger tax refund?

Quite simply, it's your money, and the IRS is holding onto it for up to a year with no interest. You could be spending that money, investing it to keep up with inflation or doing whatever the heck it is you want to do with that money … because it's yours!

While it's nice to get a big tax refund check in the spring, inflation is hovering around 3.9% right now . That means that your $1,000 from February 2023 will get you about $961 worth of stuff now, in February 2024. If you had put that money into a money-market fund  or a high-yield savings account instead of letting the IRS hold it, you could be getting 5% interest and have $1,050 now instead.

How do I adjust my W-4 to get more money back in my paycheck?

As mentioned, the IRS eliminated withholding allowances in 2020, so withholding less money is no longer as simple as increasing the number of allowances on your W-4 form.

Also note that the US is a "pay as you go" tax system. You're not allowed to eliminate withholding completely and pay your tax burden each April -- there's a penalty for underpayment of taxes .

However, if you're getting a big tax refund every year and you'd rather have that money back sooner in your regular paycheck, you have some options, the biggest being deductions.

Take a look at your existing W-4 and your deductions from your last federal tax return. Increase the deductions amount on your W-4 form to meet the amount on your income tax returns. Make sure to look at student loan interest and IRA contributions, which are included in addition to your deductions estimation.

If you had no tax liability for the previous year, it's possible you might not have to pay any taxes at all in the current year. To declare yourself exempt from withholding , according to the IRS, you "must have had no tax liability for the previous year and must expect to have no tax liability for the current year."

If both conditions are true, per the IRS, write "Exempt" on Form W-4 in the space below Step 4(c). Complete steps 1(a), 1(b) and 5, then stop.

Also important, according to the IRS , the "Form W-4 claiming exemption from withholding is valid for only the calendar year in which it's furnished to the employer. To continue to be exempt from withholding in the next year, an employee must give you a new Form W-4 claiming exempt status by February 15 of that year."

On its website, the IRS provides a tax withholding estimator tool that can help you figure out how to adjust your W-4 form in order to pay more or less taxes during the year from your paycheck.

When can I adjust my W-4?

You can adjust your W-4 form any time that you would like. The IRS recommends checking your W-4 form once a year, but you should also update it upon certain events:

  • Birth of a child, or new dependent
  • Marriage or divorce
  • New job for you or your spouse
  • Purchase of a house or other major tax change

Your employer must implement your new W-4 info by the start of the first payroll period that ends on or after the 30th day after you submit an updated W-4.

Note : Talk to a tax expert to discuss your personal tax situation before adjusting your W-4 form. IRS local offices provide expert advice at various times via appointment.

Taylor swift changes lyrics again to 'karma' for travis kelce at sydney show, taylor swift showing the love to travis kelce ... changes 'karma' lyrics again for him, 671 2/24/2024 5:51 am pt.

Taylor Swift is really digging her boyfriend Travis Kelce ... so much so she's changing her lyrics AGAIN on stage for him.

Taylor was performing Friday night at Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia -- and Travis, of course, was front and center showing his support for the pop superstar.  Travis' sidekick and fellow Kansas City Chiefs player, Ross Travis , was right beside him enjoying the show.

Hahah he was mentally prepared this time but also THEY ARE SO TALL 😂 — 𝒦𝓇𝒾𝓈𝓉𝑒𝓃⸆⸉ 🤍 (@perfectlyfine89) February 23, 2024 @perfectlyfine89

In the middle of her hit tune, "Karma," Taylor again replaced some of the original lyrics with expressions of love for Travis, singing, "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me."

The original lyrics were "Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me" -- and Taylor has pulled the ol' switcharoo before at her concert in Argentina .

Video captured the moment of pure affection in Sydney. Check it out for yourself ... you can see Travis dancing with his back to the camera and waving his arms in the air as Taylor does her thing on stage.

Translation: Travis and Taylor are clearly head over heels for each other. The big question is where will it all lead?

After Friday's show, Travis said his goodbyes to Taylor and hopped a flight back to Las Vegas, where he's going to party with Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs. The team is continuing to celebrate their 2024 Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Taylor, meanwhile, will be traveling the world on the international leg of her 'Eras' tour.

During his short stay in Sydney, Travis enjoyed some quality time with Taylor at the zoo. Staying connected, though, might prove to be a challenge for the couple in the future considering their busy schedules.

TMZ has a 1-hour special Monday night on why this relationship works so well yet the others did not. There are actually answers to that!  Check out "TMZ Investigates: Taylor and Travis: Ultimate Love Story" airing Monday night, 9 PM/8 Central on FOX.

Taylor Swift Changes ‘Karma’ Lyrics Once Again for Travis Kelce in Sydney: Watch

The singer's beau showed off his excitement and was filmed by fans at the show during the memorable moment.

Taylor Swift , 34, once again changed a line in her song “Karma” to mention her Kansas City Chiefs tight end boyfriend Travis Kelce . The athlete, 34, attended her Eras Tour show in Sydney, Australia on Friday and his excited reaction was filmed after the singer sang, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.” He waved his hands up in the air as he smiled and looked over at the beauty on stage.

Travis wore a turquoise patterned T-shirt and matching shorts with white sneakers during the outing. His facial hair was shorter than it was during the recent Super Bowl and he appeared relaxed as he greeted Taylor’s fans and even traded friendship bracelets with them.

aww you can see his smile when she says it 🤭 — 𝒦𝓇𝒾𝓈𝓉𝑒𝓃⸆⸉ 🤍 (@perfectlyfine89) February 24, 2024

Taylor and Travis’ latest cute concert moment comes after they made headlines for another now viral moment on stage. The talented songwriter seemed to point at the NFL star when she sang the line, “That’s my man,” during her song “Willow” at her first Sydney show. According to fans, she also pointed to him when she sang the lyric, “When they gave us our trophies,” likely referring to his recent Super Bowl win, in her song “Long Live,” and they shared a sweet kiss after the show.

Travis arrived in Australia, where Taylor is currently playing several shows, to visit with her this week. After the quick trip, he is now headed back to the U.S., where he plans to meet up with his Chiefs teammates in Las Vegas, NV, on Saturday, according to TMZ . It’s unclear exactly when he plans on meeting up with his girlfriend again, but the lovebirds have seemed to support each other as much as possible since they started dating in the summer.

When Travis isn’t traveling to see Taylor, he’s celebrating his Super Bowl win. The professional football player partied with his teammates as well as Taylor the night of their big win on February 11. He then enjoyed a victory parade in the team’s hometown of Kansas City, MO, where he gave memorable speeches and sang songs, before tragedy struck with a shooting that sadly killed one parade attendee.
